Chapter 300
Chapter 300 Confrontation BECKY After I was caught in the room by Adalyn, I was seized at once and tied up against my will. They shouted at me and forced my hands behind my back. I tried using my claws to escape the ties but it was no use. They were much stronger than me and besides, I was outnumbered. My heart beat heavily in my chest as I thought of Dickson. All I wanted was to tell him the news of Silas’ drugging and let him know that while I was rattled here in the House of Moses, I would be just fine. All I needed was to keep my wits about me and try to uncover Adalyn and Oliver’s secret plot.
But all of that had been ruined and now
-w 'V SViwae I was bound against a wooden chair, facing Adalyn.
The Alpha King’s wife walked languidly, reminding me again of a jungle cat rather than a wolf. Her calculating gold eyes assessed me with a sharp gaze that made me want to avert contact. But I maintained my own gaze to show her she didn’t scare me.
“Inoticed you yesterday,” Adalyn revealed. “When you attempted to blend yourself in with those royal healers. It was a bold move but ultimately stupid. Did you think I was blind? That I wouldn’t notice you?” She laughed, a cruel sound that echoed in the room.
“If you didn’t think you were as clever
Wy 719 BUNUS as you do, I wouldn't have caught you so easily,” she continued, and she examined her long nails as if she were bored by this interaction. “I didn’t want to make any fuss. But you thought you were smart enough to beat me so I took the opportunity to deal with you myself. And here we are. No one knows where you are and who took you.” I narrowed my eyes and glared at her. I thought my expression would intimidate her but Adalyn merely laughed.
“Don’t look at me like that,” she said with a wave of her hand. “This is all your fault. You shouldn’t have snuck in here. Why would you want to come here anyway? I thought you would be less stupid than to come to the House of Moses.”
L™ J +15 BONUS My lips parted against my will as | thought of Silas sitting unconscious in his chamber. Silas... he didn’t deserve any of this.
Adalyn frowned at me and then she seemed to realize the truth.
“Oh, you came here for Silas,” she said and then she giggled with mockery.
“How moving. Silas’ little mate comes to save the brave Beta from his awful family. So cute. But your mate can’t be saved. No one can save him now.” “Only because of your plot!” I blurted out boldly. “Silas would have recovered if it weren't for your intervention!” Adalyn raised a dark, arched eyebrow.
She seemed to be surprised. Or maybe she just pretended to be shocked, as if being pretentious would add
Wy "VY BUNGS something fun to this interrogation.
Everything was a game to her so | wouldn’t be too surprised if she was drawing this out for her own amusement.
She flashed me a vicious smile. “It seems like you know everything, don’t you? That’s why you were here to use the phone It all makes sense now. Well, take comfort in knowing you’re right.
Without me, SIlas would still be my father’s perfect heir, the Lord Beta, or even the future king of Wegalla. Who knows. But unfortunately, I'm the one with the actual power now.” Anger burnt in my chest.
“Silas is your brother!” I exclaimed.
“You grew up together. What kind of sister would want to harm her own brother?”
ie ue me uo *15BONUS “Sister and brother?” Adalyn laughed cruelly, tossing her dark hair back.
“What do you know about me, girl? — Yes, we grew up together, but Silas was never a good brother. He has always known that our father likes him more and used that to his advantage. Just like Father, he never treated me with any sort of respect-" “And did you treat him like a brother?” I questioned. “Did you truly care for him as an older sister? It sounds like you were merely jealous of him. It wasn’t his fault that your father treated you both differently. If he showed Silas more love, that isn’t Silas’ fault. If anyone is to blame, it’s your father.” Adalyn appeared vexed. Her nostrils flared and her hands balled into fists.
“You should shut the fuck up,” she practically growled at me. “If Silas wasn’t my brother, I would have killed him already. I’ve been kind enough to keep him alive but that could change at any moment.” “Your plan won’t work,” I fired back at her as my anger swelled. “The Moon Goddess sees what you're doing and she won't let you get away with it.
Justice will be served.” Adalyn laughed so hard that she nearly fell over. She braced herself and again, the mocking sound echoed in the room. It was enough to drive one mad and if my hands had been free, I would have placed them over my ears to drown out the awful, mocking sound.
“You’re such an innocent kitten,” she
Wy "VUNG chuckled as she wiped a tear from her cheek. “I haven’t believed in the Moon Goddess since Silas was born. If such an entity existed and was kind enough to bless me as she did with everyone else, she would have never allowed a fool like Silas to be born.” ~ IT'wanted to say more, but she seemed impatient and dissatisfied with my reactions. Maybe she had been expecting a horrified reaction or for me to beg to be let go. But I refused to give her the satisfaction. She wouldn’t see me fold and I would never beg.
Adalyn yawned and stretched her deeply tanned arms above her. “I'm tired.” She motioned for her two guards to step forward. “Lock her up.” Just as she turned on her heels to leave
the room, I called out to her. “What if your father discovered the truth?” She paused for a moment and turned to | face me. Her expression was amused.
“My father wouldn’t. He’s always considered me a fool and a piece of trash. A fool never would have had the wit to come up with such a plan. My father has always had a low opinion of me, remember?” Adalyn then left without looking back.
The guards removed the bonds that secured me to the chair but grasped my wrists and held me so I wouldn’t escape. I kicked and shouted but it was no use and they slapped a gag on my mouth. Exclusive content © by Nô(v)el/Dr/ama.Org.
The guards took me out of the room and shoved me into a dark and dusty one in the basement. It was full of |

They tightened my bonds and then left.
When I was completely alone, sadness and regret swept over me. I probably should have listened to Dickson. But at the same time, I knew my choice to come here was right. If I hadn’t snuck into the House of Moses, I wouldn't have uncovered Adalyn’s conspiracy.
Poor Silas.
I sat down on the ground and tried to get comfortable, though it was hard. I was worn out from this ordeal.
Time went by and I wasn’t sure how long I had been in the room until I heard some footsteps. They didn’t come from the staircase but instead
sounded like they were outside the half-window.
I stared for a moment, waiting, and then suddenly, there was a face outside.
For a moment, I couldn’t believe my eyes.
The man squatting down and peering though was Dickson.
