Damian’s Obsession

31

TWO DAYS LATER

“Are you ready yet?” I heard Damian ask.

“Almost done.” I answered as I struggled with the suitcase.

“Need any help?” Damian asked again as he walked into the room.

“No” I answered but he ignored me and helped me carry my suitcase effortlessly downstairs.

A guard standing outside quickly rushed towards Damian and collected the suitcase from him before putting it inside the car booth.

“Is that all you need for the trip?” Damian asked as he turned to stare at me.

“No, that’s all.” I answered.

“Ok, let’s go then.” He said as he opened the car’s door and indicated for me to get in.

I did and entered too, seating beside me. The car zoomed off immediately.

AT THE AIRPORT

We sat quietly at the lobby. Damian was busy doing whatever with his phone while I sat there in boredom before a male airport attendant came and said something to Grey.

He nodded his head in understanding and the attendant left. He stood up and said;

“He just said the Jet is ready for flight boss.” “Jet?? He has a Jet??” I thought in surprise.

“Okay. Let’s go.” He said as he held my hands and started walking while I just followed behind him like a lost puppy. Grey and two other guards were trailing behind us with our luggage.

We got to the run way and instead of him to follow the other passengers, he went the other way. My eyes widened when I saw the very majestic Jet lying in wait for us. Is Damian really this wealthy to afford a Jet as luxurious as this??

What was I expecting? Why wouldn’t he be able to afford it when he’s a mafia don. Sometimes, I always forget about that.

We got into the Jet and settled on our various seats. I was seated beside the window and Damian was seated beside me obviously. We were seated for sometime before the Pilot’s voice was heard through the speakers.

“We are about to depart now. Please put off all electronic devices like your phones and also put on your seatbelts.” He said.

I shakily put on my seatbelts. I was starting to feel really anxious. I have never gotten on a plane before. I turned towards my side and saw that Damian was seemed calm. Probably because he has travelled through a Jet all the time.

“First time?” He asked when he notice that I looked really tensed.

“Yes.” I managed to croak out.

“Don’t worry. That’s how it is the first time. It’ll go away once we are on the air. You’ll soon get used to it.” He said with a reassuring smile as he placed his palm on mine.

“Really?” I asked.

“Yeah. Now take a deep breath and close your eyes. I’ll let you know when we’ve taken off.” He whispered.

I smiled and did as he said. After a few minutes, the anxiety started to wear off.

“Open your eyes.” He whispered again.

I complied and opened my eyes. I took a peak at the window and notice that we were way above the ground level.

“See, it isn’t that bad.” He said.

“You can only say that because you’ve taken the flight countless times. Besides, you didn’t tell me you had a Jet.” I said.

“Would you have chosen not to come with me if I had told you?” He teased.

“Don’t play with me. I’m not joking.” I said putting on a serious look.

“Well, you never asked.” He answered nonchalantly.

“How was I supposed to ask if it had never crossed my mind?” I asked back.

“Now you know.” He said.

“I see.. is there any other thing about that I need to know?” I asked.

“Why so interested now? When I wanted you to get to know me, you clearly said you weren’t interested.” He said.

“Our relationship was quite different then.” I said.

“How so? What would you call our relationship now?” He asked.

I know he was teasing me so I decided not to give in.

“Are you telling me or not?” I asked.

“What would you like to know princess?” He asked, giving in to me.

“Now we are talking. When did you decide to join the mafia?” I asked curiously.

“Is that really your first question?” He asked.

“Just answer me.” I said, more like snapped at me.

“Relax tigress. There’s no need to get all worked up. I joined the Mafia when I was fifteen.” He answered.

My eyes almost bulged out when I heard what he said.

“Pretty young right?” He asked.

“Yes. What made you join them?” I asked, every word dripping with both curiosity and surprise.

“My father was a Mafia don. When I was fifteen, he was killed along with my mom by one of his most trusted friends. So, I had to take his position as the new Mafia don so secure power and authority in my family.” He said.

‘I’m so sorry.” I muttered.

“For what?” He asked in surprise.

“Your parents’ death. It must have been a huge burden for you to carry on your on.” I said in sadness.

“You don’t have to feel sorry for me. I’ve passed that stage of my life already.” He said.Content © provided by NôvelDrama.Org.

That was a lot to take in. who would know that the fearless Damian Black had a really rough childhood. Despite losing both his parents at a very young age, he had to take over the family business.

May be this was the story Felix was talking about. Maybe that was what made him become heartless or maybe it was something else.

I started to get curious again when I remembered what Grey said the other day.

“Do you have any other questions?” Damian asked, pulling me out of my thoughts.

“Yes.” I answered without thinking.

“Alright. Ask away.” He said.

This is my chance right now.

“Who’s Ana??”
