Mine sinful fall

20 Chapter

Angelina

“What’s wrong?” Vova wonders when he sees my condition.

“What’s the matter with him? Was he seriously hurt?”

“No, he didn’t get hurt. But he’s in the hospital.”

“What hospital?”

“The third. Come quickly, he keeps calling for you,” she says and hangs up.

“Will you tell me what happened?” asks the boss again.

“My brother got hit by a car. He’s in the hospital right now. They say his condition isn’t serious.”

” Let me take you to him. Let’s go.”

“No. Don’t. I’ll get there myself. You wanted lunch.”

“It’s more important to me to drive you than to fill my stomach with restaurant food.”

“I’ll drive myself.”

“She won’t be so stubborn. Now is not the time to show your temper.”

He’s right. It’s not the time. I’ll have to find out. Who hit him, what he was hit for, and how it all happened! If it turns out to be the driver’s fault, as it is in most cases, I will demand compensation. I doubt it’s like that and my brother only got away with bruises and abrasions. If Vova wants a ride, let him. This man is extremely difficult to change his mind, and right now I have neither the time nor the desire to argue with him.

“Okay, let’s go.”

I agree, we leave his office, then I run into mine to get dressed in my down jacket, and we go. Natasha looks in our direction crookedly. It’s not my fault she’s head over heels in love with her boss, and he pays no attention to her. I messed up her plans when I came to work here.

But that’s okay, I’ll be gone soon. I’m sure they slept together. But that’s none of my business.

We are near the parking lot, Vova opens the door for me and I sit in the front seat.

“Thank you,” I thank him, and we drive off.

“What happened to him? Who hit him?” asks a question that I don’t know the whole truth about yet.

“I don’t know anything. The hospital will tell us everything.”

“The culprit must have already left, since the doctor called you.”

“Vova, please,” I’m asking him not to touch me now with his interrogations.

” Don’t worry. I’ll find the culprit anyway.”This content provided by N(o)velDrama].[Org.

“I’ll do it myself.”

” I’ll do it all by myself. What an independent girl I’ve got.”

“Not you, Vova. And let’s stop talking about it once and for all. If you don’t stop pestering me, I’ll get out of the car right now and walk. I warned you!”

“You’re scary. Okay, I give up. We’ll be there soon. It doesn’t suit you to be so mean. I like it better when you laugh. You’re different, more gentle and feminine.”

But I ignored his words, just stared out the window. The snowfall was barely sprinkling on the roads. It’s strange that there’s almost no snow closer to New Year’s Eve. And I want a real new year. With snow and firecrackers and tangerines. But the most important thing right now is not to panic. Don’t call your parents and don’t disturb them.

“Here we are,” Vova says as we pull up to the hospital.

“Thank you,” I hurry to get out of the car.

” I’ll wait. Then I’ll take you home. There’s no point in going back to work.”

“No need, I can stay late.”

“That’s all right. I’m in no hurry.”

“Vova, please. I’ll see you at work tomorrow.”

“Are you sure?”

“Absolutely. See you tomorrow,” I slam the door and run to the office to sort everything out and make sure Kostya is all right.
