Chapter 124
Chapter 124
She almost tripped over after running a few steps in her high heels. So, she simply took them off and went straight to Mikayla's room while holding her high heels.
She had no hope of catching up with Carlos. 'As long as he hadn't taken Mikayla away yet!' she thought.
Juliet ran out of breath. When she stood in Mikayla's bedroom, she saw Carlos standing in the room and looking at Mikayla's breathtakingly beautiful face with satisfaction. He took a deep breath and walked over.
Mikayla sat on the big bed with her long dress covering the whole bed, looking at Carlos who was holding roses.
She thought, 'There are so many people outside. Besides, with Juliet around, it's supposed to take a while. I didn't expect him to come up so soon.'
It was the first time she had seen Carlos wearing such a pure white outfit. Carlos' complexion was rather tan, and his skin color was hard to complement with a color like white. Nheless, the outcome proved that he could look good in all kinds of colors, and white accentuated his inherent nobility and elegance, which made people unconsciously attracted to him.
He just walked up to her one step at a time.
For some reason, her heartbeat began to accelerate as if it was about to jump out of her chest. She couldn't control it at all.
She began to get nervous and overwhelmed, not knowing what she have to do next and had no idea what would happen subsequently. Everything seemed to be an uncertainty to her.
Carlos stopped when he was one step away from her.
The pink and white flowers in his hand seemed to change into various charming colors.
He suddenly got down on one knee. "Mika, marry me!"
She watched Carlos present the roses to her.
Mikayla bit her pink lips and looked even more attractive with her pity look, which made one want to kiss her.
She stretched out her hand and was about to accept it.
"Wait!" Juliet, who was standing at the door, rushed over. As she spoke, she kept gasping for breath.
Mikayla looked up at her in puzzlement.
Juliet threw away the high heels in her hand and walked over, panting. She scolded, "Carlos, are you a leopard? How could you run so fast! I'm exhausted."
'Damn! I couldn't even breathe now,' she complained in her mind.
Carlos smiled lightly.
"It's impossible for you to marry Mikayla so easily!" Juliet took a deep breath and calmed herself down.
"What?" Carlos asked.
"So..." Juliet smirked.
Mikayla was worried. Every time Juliet made fun of people, she would show the same expression. It seemed that Carlos could not escape from it. Just then, the group of people who had snatched the mary gift earlier at the door also poured in.
For a moment, the room became lively.
"Hehe! Don't worry. I won't let you suffer too much as you're Mikayla's fiancé. But it's not easy to marry the most beautiful woman in Xosa. So..." Juliet smiled wickedly.
Carlos remained calm.Content © NôvelDrama.Org 2024.
"Frankly, I'm particularly kind! Really!" Juliet added, beckoning to the housekeeper in Mikayla's house and whispering a few words in her ear. The housekeeper nodded and left.
Carlos seemed to have guessed that Juliet must be up to something like that. If he didn't play along with her, she would definitely not let him pick Mikayla up. Therefore, he stood up and decided to play along.
However, Mikayla was still worried about Carlos for no reason. After all, Juliet was smart and cunning. Mikayla did not know what Juliet would think of to trick him.
After a while, the housekeeper who
had just gone out came back again with an extra tray in her hand. There were four identical porcelain cups with patterns and lids on them, which were completely sealed. There was also a table tennisball next to it. No one could see what was inside and couldn't help
guessing what was in them.
"On this special day of marriage, how can we not let the groom taste the real life in advance? There are four spiked beverages here, which mean the joys and sorrows of life. Of course, we also invite our best man to come forward." Juliet's voice made everyone quiet and ready to watch the upcoming interesting show.
Kashton was called out. So, he snuck out of the crowd excitedly, wondering what Juliet was up to.
"Rules of the game: The best man must blow the ball with his mouth, provided that he can only use his mouth instead of hands. If there is a foul, the Bridegroom will drink it all. The groom only drinks one glass if the best man blows it into any of the glasses. If something else happens, such as blowing the ball gut halfway through the cup, the groom will drink everything as long as the ball
misses the glass."
'Damn it...' Kashton felt his heart tremble. That task didn't sound like one with a high success rate because that game was full of schemes. Meanwhile, Juliet, the one who suggested it, looked at Kashton proudly and signaled him to start hastily. "The time has come to test the brotherhood between you and Carlos!"
At that moment, if Kashton didn't understand, he must be a fool. 'Juliet doesn't mean to mess with the groom. She's deliberately messing with me instead,' he cursed inwardly.
He glanced at Carlos and didn't dare to move until the latter agreed!
Obviously, Carlos was in a particularly good mood that day. He was smiling all the time.
After getting Carlos' permission, Kashton walked to the round tray. Four drinks were placed in the center and the table tennis ball was on the edge of the tray. It was pitifully close!
Kashton intended to blow lightly. However, Juliet suddenly coughed heavily, and he was shocked. His breath was heavier than he intended. The light ball flew out of the tray just like that.
"What a pity! There's no other way!
l
Such a simple game can only prove that the best man is not using his brain..." Juliet pretended to be helpless, completely ignoring Kashton's glare which was about to pierce her through. She smiled at
Carlos and said, "The
groom has no
choice but to drink up these four drinks that represent life!"
Juliet lifted the lid. The air was instantly filled with mixed flavors. Everyone couldn't help shaking their heads when they smelled it.
Carlos walked over and pursed his thin lips. He picked up the cup closest to him, paused for a second, and drank it down! The expression on that handsome face changed abruptly.
Suddenly, Juliet reminded him cheerfully, "Finish it in one minute! If one minute passes, you have to start over!"
'That young lady!' Mikayla sat on the big bed and watched everything.
Without pausing, Carlos picked up the second, third, and fourth glasses.
He drank it one after another and started to feel uneasy after that.
Originally, one flavor was bad enough. With four different flavors going into his stomach in succession, he felt he had almost lost his taste.
However, Juliet stood aside and explained to everyone happily, "These four cups contain spicy drink, lemon juice, sugar, and of course, mustard. They've all been upgraded! So, Carlos, congratulations on passing the test!"
