Chapter 41
Chapter 41
After leaving the hospital, Anastasia went to the bar first to look for Jason.
She borrowed money from Kimberly so that she could pay Jason back.
“Hello, I’m looking for Jason, Anastasia said to the bar manager.
“Sorry, Jason has left. He is not working here anymore.”
Anastasia stood there stiffly as she comprehended what the bar manager hall said. “Did someone cause Jason trouble?”
The manager nodded. “Ah… that’s right. Someone complained about Jason, saying he had a criminal record and entered the juvenile detention center before. Our bar was closed because of that. Jason felt that he had caused trouble to the bar, so he left.”
Anastasia took a deep breath and thought, “It’s definitely Felicia. There is no one else who would do this.”
Alastor wasn’t that free to do this.
“I see. Thank you.” Anastasia took out her phone and wanted to call Jason but realized she had only given her phone number to him. She didn’t have his phone number.
“Hello, manager. Do you have Jason’s contact information?” Anastasia asked nervously.
Jason…” The manager hesitated.
“Well, Jason paid my medical bills for me last night. I want to pay him back, Anastasia explained,
“Then, I’ll tell you his address.” The manager gave Jason’s address to Anastasia.
Anastasia looked at the address and was stunned for a while as she was familiar with it,
It was Harewood Lane.
When Anastasia was 20 years old and met Jace, the latter had said his grandmother lived in Harewood Lane. This is from NôvelDrama.Org.
Later, Jace disappeared without a trace. Anastasia would visit his grandmother every year and give the latter some living
expenses.
She never asked Jace’s grandmother about Jace’s whereabouts. It was not that she didn’t want to, but she dared not,
Anastasia suddenly felt slightly scared after she took the address and contact information.
From the first time she saw Jason, she felt he was familiar. However, when she compared him to Jace who disappeared around eight years ago, she thought it was impossible that Jason was Jace.
Jace in her memory was weak. He seemed to be around 17 years old, always lowering his head and didn’t like to communicate with others. He possessed a presence that would go unnoticed, even in a bustling crowd.
However, Jason was tall, strong, rugged, and handsome with an inborn elegant aura. Wherever he went, he shone brilliantly with his dazzling presence.
The only similarity between the two only showed slightly in a few moments.
Anastasia thought she was overthinking. She left the bar and drove to Harewood Lane.
Harewood Lane was very narrow, filled with century-old sycamore on both sides. The pavement was clean. There were only fallen leaves without garbage.
Anastasia parked her car outside the alley and braced herself against the cold winter wind. Tears welled up in her eyes.
She thought about face who accompanied her through a period and wondered how he was doing now. “Grandma, I’ll come to see you tomorrow.” Jason stood with his back facing Anastasia outside the old residence.
Anastasia’s breath tightened, and she clenched her fingers.
Penelope saw Anastasia first and whispered, “Annie.”
Jason was stunned for a moment and turned back to look at Anastasia.
Anastasia stood rooted to the spot. Her legs felt heavy.
Anastasia didn’t dare to face him, so she turned around and left.
She thought, “How could they be the same person? They can’t be the same person.”
The saying that observers could see things more clearly was accurate. When Alastor said that the boy in the photo was the sare person as Jason, she just felt he was being ridiculous.
Perhaps… Anastasia didn’t believe that Jason was Jace at all.
Jace accompanied her through her darkest days.
Anastasia had never looked for Jace over the past few years. She only treated those memories as a dream.
“Anastasia!” Jason chased after her and seemed slightly nervous.
Anastasia was trying to escape him at this point.
Suddenly, Anastasia paused in her tracks and pretended to be calm, looking back at Jason. “What a coincidence. You paid for my father’s operation yesterday in the hospital. Let me pay you back”
Jason walked over to Anastasia and smiled. I’m not in a hurry.”
“Where did you get the money?” she asked. She was puzzled as to why he would work in the bar since he could pay for an operation that was around 15,000 dollars.
“I just…”
Anastasia panicked and interrupted Jason, saying. “Did you swipe your credit card? Give me the card number. I’ll transfer the money to you.”
Jason was silent for a moment, and his voice was hoarse when he replied. “Do you not recognize me, or do you not want to?”
Anastasia clenched her fingers and turned around, leaving without saying anything.
“Anastasia! I came back too late, right?” Jason shouted.
Anastasia didn’t look back, as tears gushed out of her eyes.
Anastasia looked up at the sycamores and stopped. “Yes, it’s too late.”
Some people were late.
Since they missed their chance, it was gone forever.
