CHAPTER 166
I was long gone into the abyss. They say you shouldn’t look too long into the abyss because the abyss would look into you, but that wasn’t the case for me, I’d looked too long.
I was back in our pack and I was in the dark, eerie room. I wasn’t the only one there. There were several other kids in the room whose faces were blurry. I realized I was sitting on a chair. My hands and feet were tied together in front of me.
I looked down and I realized both my hands and feet were super tiny like that of a child.
Someone walked into the room. It was Mother. I heard myself sniffle as small tiny sobs broke out of my throat.
“I want my mummy,” I cried.
That wasn’t possible. I didn’t have a mom. I never had a mom.
That was when it occurred to me that I was in the body of a child. I couldn’t even control anything this girl was doing. I wanted to tell her to stop crying and be strong but I couldn’t do that. All that came out were more sobs. I was just there, watching through her eyes, seeing everything that was happening.
“How’s she?” A voice came from the darkness. I could see his shadow but I didn’t see his face.
“She might be tiny but she’s tough. She has Alpha blood so I don’t expect her to come easy. The good thing is I love challenges,”
Mother turned to me with a sinister smile on her face.
“Harriette,” Someone called.
The voice was distant. It wasn’t in the room. It was somewhere far away.
“Reina!” Another voice called.
“HARRIETTE! WAKE THE FUCK UP!” It was Commander Mika’s voice. I could hear that tormenting voice even in my sleep or on my deathbed.
A hand suddenly grabbed the tiny girl by the shoulder and yanked her away into a hollow of nothingness that never seemed to end.
The environment around me suddenly changed. I wasn’t in the body of the girl in the darkroom anymore. I was back in the painting room, together with Commander Mika, Luna Angela, and other people who weren’t there in the first place.
Alpha Darius, alpha Mason, Gideon, and of course, Alpha Rowan.
“What happened, Re… Harriette?” Luna Angela asked. Her hand was on my shoulder as she stared at me with worry etched on her face.
I removed her hand from me and tried shifting back but that was when I realized I was on the floor.
“Nothing!” I answered.
“Bullshit,” Alpha Darius spat. “That wasn’t nothing,”
“Tell me, what happened just now?”
I shook my head. “I don’t know. What happened?” I asked them instead.
I had to lie because I knew if I told them what happened, they would’ve assumed I was their lost daughter. Moreover, how was I supposed to look these strangers in the eyes and tell them of my traumatizing experience just now?
“We were talking and then you suddenly froze and lost consciousness,” Luna Angela said worriedly. “I had to call for others,”
“There must be something strange in the air. I really have been doing that for a long time since I got here,” I quickly said.

It wasn’t news that I’d been losing consciousness as if it were slipping through my fingers since I moved into this pack and it all. started with the wolf with the red eyes.
My eyes shifted to Rowan. He had a deep frown on his face. Maybe I could tell him what I just saw.
He was the only person I believed I could open up to, but the way he looked at me before he looked away sent dark shivers down my spine.
Something was wrong. I thought.
It’s not your business, Angela! My subconscious reminded me. I shouldn’t be bothered about if something was wrong with Alpha Rowan or not. I should be more concerned about how to escape this present situation.
“What day is it?” Alpha Rowan suddenly asked.
“13th,” I mentioned. I first held my breath, hoping I didn’t say the wrong thing again.
Alpha Rowan only nodded and he walked out instantly. He was cold, too cold to be honest.
A part of me wanted to go after him but I had no other choice than to wait while the rest gawked at me as though I was a meat on display.
“Relax everyone, I’m okay,” I assured them.
“Are you sure you’re okay?” Alpha Darius asked. He had this worried look on his face that almost broke my fake demeanor. I wanted nothing more than to break down and cry that I wasn’t okay.
“I’m perfect,” I made the perfect sign with my finger and sat back in front of the canvas.
Harriette Adams, who are you? Rowan’s question came back to my head. I didn’t give him an answer back then because I didn’t have one and even up until now, I still don’t have an answer. I had to tell him I was his greatest nightmare so he could stop asking me.
My hands shook as I held the brush. My heart ached for the little girl who was tied down and in tears.
Luna Angela touched my shoulder again. “If you ever want to talk about anything, please come to me, I’ll always be here for you,”
She assured me. I nodded. “Thank you,” I whispered.
Knowing fully well that I was so close to breaking down, I left the painting room. I made sure not to leave as though I was in a hurry. I casually took my things and walked out of the room, promising to come back the next day.
I went back to the room I shared with Ella.
Fortunately, she was in the room.
“When are you going to carry out your mission, Harriette?” Ella suddenly asked.
I turned to stare at her. “What mission?”
“The same one Mother gave to you,”
I ignored her. I couldn’t believe I’d forgotten that for a moment. That raised a lot of questions for me.
Why did I forget? Did I lose interest in fulfilling my mission or was I so lost in the vanity things of this pack I didn’t want to go back home again? What about my lover? His thoughts haven’t crossed my mind in a long time.
Could he be dead or alive?
Whatever the answer was didn’t satisfy me at the end of the day. All I knew was, I was torn.
I was torn between hurting Rowan and disappointing Mother.
I walked into the bathroom and took a shower, hoping it would help me forget everything for a while.
“I asked you a question, Harriette,” Ella spat as soon as I walked out of the bathroom.
I ignored her again. “HARRIETTE!” She suddenly yelled.

Chapter 166
“Back off,”
I warned. Ever since I found out about what happened that night, I’d been suspicious of her. Something was going on with Ella that she wasn’t opening up about. It was eating her up and in turn, she was frustrating me.
“No, I will not, what’s the worst thing you can do,”
I twisted my fist in full–blown anger. I was about to crack her skull open.
I dragged my feet to the door and opened it.
“Find somewhere else to sleep tonight, Ella,” I commanded.
“You have no…”
In a low, growling voice, I said, “Get out Ella or I swear that I’ll make you. Best, believe me, if I do, the dogs would feast on your bones by morning,”
She suddenly looked scared. This content © 2024 NôvelDrama.Org.
Without much of a choice, she walked out of the room. I locked the door and tried to control my anger.
That night, after tossing around on my bed, I was able to sleep. But it wasn’t a sleep, it was another nightmare.
I was dreamwalking again.
This time, I wasn’t alone. As I stepped out of the building, hoping to sadly sit on the mountain as usual, I saw Alpha Mason outside.
He was waiting with a smile.
