Chapter 40: Why does she affect me so much?

Chapter 40: Why does she affect me so much?

James pulled Amelia's hand as they trudged to the house. They got into the mansion, and he threw her forward.

She staggered forward and her bag fell off her shoulders to the floor.

"What do you think you're doing with that guy?!" James asked.

"I wasn't doing anything, okay? I was just eating lunch!"

"Lunch?! And he was feeding you?... Here..." He grabbed her hand roughly and looked at her palm.

"Stop! You are hurting me!" Amelia cried fearfully. Her heart was pounding very fast. It seemed like a nightmare came true to her..

"I can't see any injuries on your hand, why couldn't you f**king feed yourself?!" He smacked and threw her hands away angrily.

"What is wrong with you, Mr. James! What do you want from me?!" She yelled in tears.

She held the wrist of her right hand, rubbing it softly. She felt throbbing pain in it due to James grip.

"You are married, okay?! You have no right to have lunch with another man!"

"And you have the right to sleep with other women?! You were at that restaurant for Ava, right? Why are you so mad when you are doing the same thing!"

"What I do is none of your business! Stay away from the man!"

"And if I don't?! What are you going to do, Mr. James?"

James scoffed and rolled his eyes. "You want to know what I'm going to do, yeah?"

"Yes, I want to know. All you have ever done is hurt me. I won't be surprised if you do it again!" She yelled in response.

Her face turned red due to her tears, her blouse was roughened, and she was shaking in anger and pain.

"Who the hell is that guy anyway?! You got married a few days ago, and you are a slut to another man?!"

Amelia's eyes widened as she heard the word 'slut' proceed from his mouth.

"What did you just call me?" She asked in a low tone, walking to him.

"Aren't you a sl..."

Amelia didn't let him complete the word before he threw a hot slap on his face. James' eyes dilated as he held his hot, red cheek in surprise.

"What do you take me for, Mr. James?!" She yelled and burst into tears.

"I am not like one of those girls you sleep with! I will never give my body out cheaply, because I know my worth! And I just realized Elena was right the whole time. You are a monster, and I deserve a better man!"

"Don't you mention that woman's name again." He groaned, pointing to her.

"Why?! Why can't I mention her name? After the evil thing you did to her, you still act like that victim! After making her cry, I can't believe you can still act so innocent!"

James wanted to speak back badly, to do something evil to her, but he couldn't.

He searched for the words to say, but he found none. He had never been so shocked and speechless his whole life.

Amelia closed her eyes and kept wailing, her whole body was shaking vigorously.

She grabbed her chest because she could feel her heart crushing to tiny pieces.

"I thought you would one day love me, Mr. James, I wished and hoped that one day you would care for me the way I care for you. I guess I was stupid to think the devil himself can have good intentions! I regret ever meeting you!"

Amelia turned away from him and began to run up the stairs. James was still too astonished to react to all she had said. He stared at the staircase until she was out of sight.NôvelDrama.Org: owner of this content.

'Did she just f**king slap me?'

The ring of Amelia's phone in her bag jerked him back to reality. He looked at the bag in fury and disgust. He picked it up, unzipped it and turned it upside down.

Everything in the bag fell to the ground, including her phone. He picked it and when he saw the caller was Fred, he grew even angrier.

"A**hole!" He shouted and smashed her phone on the Italian floor, producing a loud crashing noise.

"Mr. James!" Amelia calle, running down the stairs.

She had heard her phone ringing, she guessed it was Fred calling and before she could get to it, she saw James smash it into pieces.

"Why? You want to slap me again? C'mon! Do it! You want to say awful things, right?! Say it!" He screeched at her from where he stood.

Amelia clutched her jaws as she stared at him with great regret. She rushed down the staircase, walking to where James stood.

James' breathing pace increased as he watched her approach him. 'Is she going to smack me again? She is going to really do that?'

She got in front of him and stopped walking. They glared at each other for minutes, inhaling and exhaling very hard.

James exhaled softly and his lips parted slowly.

"Amelia..."

"I want a divorce. We both want it, don't we? Let's do it!"

James raised his eyebrows in surprise after listening to her. "You want a divorce?" He asked in a threatening voice.

"I'll finally be free from a monster like you!"

She poked his chest and bent over to pick her car keys. She ran to the main door and headed out of the house.

"Where the hell are you going?!"

"It's none of your business! Aren't we minding our businesses now?" She responded, running to her car.

She got into the car in no time, ignited the engine and drove out of the compound.

James watched her drive out of the compound and he punched the air in fury.

"F**k!" He yelled and grabbed his head tightly with his hands. He slammed the door and pulled out his phone from his pocket.

He scrolled through his call log, searching for his mother's number. After he found it, he hesitated.

'What if she takes her side again? I better not talk to her.' He thought.

He threw his phone into his pocket again, and walked to his bar that was next to his kitchen.

He picked up a bottle of Bourbon and a glass. He filled up the glass and gulped it at once.

'Why does she affect me this much?'

Amelia kept sobbing and sniffing as she drove to Elena's apartment.

"I hate you! I hate you so much?!" She yelled, hitting the steering wheel with her left hand.

She got to the house and alighted. She walked into the house and proceeded to Elena's apartment.

She prayed Elena was at home because she planned she wasn't going to go back home. Not after what had happened.

She cleaned her eyes with the back of her hand and knocked on Elena's door. She looked at her former apartment and gulped hard.

'If I didn't marry him, I would be living here happily.

"Who is there?" Elena asked and opened the door before Amelia could respond.

When she saw Amelia and how terrible she looked, she knotted her brows.

"Amelia, are you okay?" She asked worriedly.

"Elena." Amelia called and hugged her tightly.

Elena rolled her eyes as she hugged her back. She wondered what had transpired this time.

"What happened?" She asked as they disengaged from the hug.

"Mr. James happened. Can I go in?" Amelia inquired sadly.

"Oh... yes. My bad."

Elena moved away from the door and let Amelia enter her flat. She let out a smirk as she locked the door behind her. She erased the smirk from her face and looked at Amelia.

"Can you explain to me what happened?"

Amelia bounced her head slowly and lowered her head in unhappiness.

"I went to lunch with a friend, Mr. James came to the restaurant, embarrassed my friend and I, he took me home, called me a slut..." She mumbled and covered her mouth with her palm afterward.

She broke into tears again.

"Oh my... I'm sorry, Amelia." Elena responded, placing her hand on Amelia's shoulder.

"No, you shouldn't be sorry. You worried me, but I never listened. You told me he is evil. I should have listened to you."

Elena heaved a sigh and withdrew her hand. "This friend is a man, right?" She asked, and Amelia bounced her head.

"So he was pissed that you were out with another man? You know... like he was Jealous?"

"No! If that was it, it wouldn't be so painful. I want to see him get jealous because I am with another man, but this is different. He wants to control me, control all I do. He wants to keep me living the lifestyle of the Amelia he first knew, and that isn't going to happen!"

"Wow."

Amelia raised her head and cleaned her eyes, she looked at Elena's face and poured.

"Why did you wow?"

"Is that the bad b**ch in you talking?" She asked, and Amelia smiled faintly.

"He turned me into this. I never wanted..."

"I love it! Say no more. But... what are you going to do about him?"

"I don't know and that is why I'm here, Elena. I even said I wanted a divorce out of rage. I didn't mean it at all!" She replied in frustration.

"Why didn't you mean it? Do you still want to be with him?"

"Errmmm... I don't know, Elena! I still love him," She mumbled and bit her lower lip.

Elena swallowed hard and clenched her jaws.

"Well, if you need my help, I think you would have to stop loving him. He doesn't deserve your love. When you hate him, then I'll help you make him suffer."

After Elena finished talking, Amelia stared into space, lost in thoughts, and a great silence set in.
