Branch One Hundred and Ninety Four
Alicia and Jason had to go ahead first since it was their wedding day. They were going straight to your honeymoon location. Jessica was so concerned about Leslie that it only took the willpower of Xavier to get her to leave the hospital back home.
“We could have stayed just a little bit longer. Did you see how cute those babies were?” Jessica’s voice sounded so hyper about it. If she could be active on her feet then she would be jumping all around the place.
“Yes, they were so cute,” Xavier said guiding her towards the stairs.
“So why did you let us leave so early?” she pouts and turns to face him while standing on the stairs.
“Because you need rest so you can birth to your cute baby,” Xavier said blankly.
“Okay but can I visit them tomorrow?”
“No”
“Come on please??” she said trying to sound as cute as possible.
“Do not make me look like the bad guy here but you have been up and on your feet for the past week now. You helped Alicia put the final touches to her wedding and then attended the bachelorette party after planning it and you stayed for her wedding today too” Xavier listed out all the things she did as if she was not aware of them before now.
“I was just so excited to help someone plan her wedding,” she said with a sad expression on her face. “I never got much luck with planning mine”
When she saw the expression of discomfort on Xavier’s face she quickly added “Not that I am blaming you or trying to make you feel bad about it. I might not have had a grand wedding but I am so happy about my marriage to you” she puts her hands on his shoulders and pulls him closer before planting a kiss on his lips.
“You know you have become braver,” Xavier said as she pulled away.
“What?” she asked smacking her lips together.
“You used to be afraid of what the house staff would say when you kissed me”
“Stop it do not tease me,” she said when she sensed that he was trying to tease her.
“Okay I won’t but why don’t you climb up or do you want me to carry you up the stairs?”
“Yes,” she said lifting her hands in the air.
“But you know you have added so much weight I doubt if I can carry you well”
“Why are you trying to make me feel bad about my weight?” she asked in a pout. “You are the one who suggested it,” she said before turning and walking up the stairs in angry little steps.
He walked ahead of her and lifted her up. “You may have added weight but you are never too much for me”
Her head fell into his chest and she closed her eyes. “Teasing me must be fun for you” she mumbled.
“Forever fun”
“Have you heard from Doctor Ross?” Jessica asked as Xavier put her down on the bed.
“About?”
“About Genevieve”
“Oh yes she is doing better and responding to treatment”
“Oh thank goodness,” Jessica said with a sigh of relief.
Xavier could not help but agree. He had never been close to Genevieve but after losing his grandfather to the cold hands of death he could not stand losing another family member. He tried his best to begin to treat Genevieve how one would treat an aunt.
Since the last time she left the house, she had been on admission as required by the doctor to help her recover faster. It was later made known that it was a misdiagnosis from the end of the doctor who did it.
She had stage one cancer and could be helped to recover if she was dedicated to the treatment plan and method with the whole of her heart. To help speed up the process the doctor had advised that she stay back to receive treatment.
“Do not get mad at me but…” Jessica said as she trailed off.
“You want to ask about your aunt don’t you?” Xavier asked a knowing expression across his face.
“How did you know?” she gasped at him.
“Because I know what is going on in that pretty head of yours,” he said tapping the side of her head.
“Hmm,” she grunted and turned to him. “How is she doing? How long more does she have to serve?”
“The term given to her would be over by the end of the year and she is doing fine”
“Can I get her out and you won’t be mad about it?” Jessica asked in a cute voice.
“I thought you wanted her to be punished for what she did to you”Content protected by Nôv/el(D)rama.Org.
“Of course I do, but it just sounded a little off for one to allow their family to be in jail for something they did to them” she explains.
“I do not want us to get her out. Look at what she did to you and we are having a baby soon. Having her out now would be a danger to us” he explained.
“But”
“I promise you,” he said cutting her off. “I will make sure to get her out as soon as her term is done and I will give her any amount she demands and allow her to leave our lives permanently”
“Let us let her out now and allow her to leave permanently”
“Jessica, I am worried because I do not know what she is capable of. If she can give up her niece as ransom then…” he trailed off.
“I will speak with her. Just let her out”
“Let’s sleep over it and discuss it much later okay?”
“Just promise me you would think about it”
“Of course, I will”
