The Right Decision
The sound of birds chirping and the changing colors of the clouds and the sky above, let anyone know that it was morning. Belvina and Anggi decided to return to their respective hometowns this morning, even though Anggi had tried to persuade Belvina not to go, but her best friend was still adamant about her decision. They had booked their flight tickets through an online application last night and were already preparing to go to the airport, as their flight was around 07:15.
Both of them left the apartment around 6:15am, just in case they were stuck in traffic and not too late when they got there. Anggi had also contacted her boyfriend if they were going home, and asked him to tell Gifer too without Belvina’s knowledge of course. When in the online taxi car that they were currently riding, Anggi asked Belvina again about the decision that her best friend had made.
“Vin, don’t you regret going home now?” Anggi asked. Belvina turned to her friend who was sitting on her right with a frown.
“Yes, I won’t regret it.”
“Why don’t you talk about your problems nicely?” Belvina looked down, turning her gaze towards the car’s glass window to see the scenery on the side of the highway.
“There’s nothing to talk about, Gi. It’s all over, I’ve also asked Mr. Ian for permission for us to take some time off and go back to our respective villages, you just relax.”Belonging © NôvelDram/a.Org.
“Really? It’s just a leave of absence, right? Not quitting your job? I can’t imagine if we quit our jobs anyway. In Pati, finding a job is very difficult, only those who use insiders and those with experience are easily accepted even though we have a Bachelor’s degree.” Anggi said with a sad expression on her face.
“Yes, you’re right, our bachelor’s degree is education, Gi. Not in accordance with what they want, unlike here who can accept anyone as long as that person wants to work.” Belvina replied.
“You take it easy, I’m only going to my hometown to calm down for a while, after that I’m going back to Jakarta to work.” Belvina continued.
“Is it just for work? Then, what about Gifer?” Belvina looked back at Anggi while changing her facial expression.
_
Gifer had already left for work after his usual neat office clothes and also his neatly combed black hair also displayed a full forehead, the dream of all women, both young and old. He walked along the employees who tried to greet him with a smile and bowed his head in respect followed by Haris who walked behind him. Gifer also greeted with a slight bow of his head and straightened his body until he reached the big wooden door that was now in front of him, opened it and immediately walked towards his work desk, sitting on his work chair while massaging his temples. Haris, who saw that his friend was still thinking about last night, tried not to think too much about it.
“Never mind, Gif, don’t burden your mind so much.” Haris said.
“How not to think, Ris. All this is because of Kiano.” Gifer replied by looking up to Haris with a sad and frustrated look.
“Now you focus on work first, last night’s problem please forget it first, work is more important, Gif. Do you want to lose another client because Kiano took it for the second time?” Haris asked convincingly so that Gifer wouldn’t get too lost in sadness. Gifer sucked his lower lip, massaged his forehead even more and looked at his best friend again.
“You’re right, alright, I’ll forget about this problem first, let’s get to work.” Said Gifer who immediately tidied up several piles of files on his desk. Took his laptop from the bag, and started his work that had been delayed last night. While he was typing, suddenly, Haris’ cell phone rang. Making him glance at Haris who was sitting on the sofa as if he was writing Gifer’s schedule to meet with the client.

The sound of the cell phone disturbed Gifer’s concentration, while his own cell phone had no notification from his girlfriend. Gifer glanced at it for a moment and then he focused on typing again. Shortly after Haris read what turned out to be from Anggi, his girlfriend, he suddenly said something to Gifer which made the sweet man surprised to hear the news.
“Gif, Belvina and Anggi went back to their respective hometowns this morning, Anggi just told me through a message.” Haris said. Gifer who heard that immediately stood up from his sitting position.
“What?! Let’s just follow, Ris.”
“Gif, are you crazy? Following is useless because they’re already leaving.”
“Aissh!” Gifer messed up his hair that was neatly arranged, now it was messy again. He also remembered what Anggi said last night.

PLAK!
Anggi slapped Gifer’s left cheek until the white skin turned red. His face turned to the right because of Anggi’s slap. Gifer could only accept it, sucked his lower lip and tried to face again towards Anggi who was still talking.
“Gosh, I can’t believe this. You… you betrayed Belvina, Gif!” Anggi said with widened eyes and spoke in a high tone in front of Gifer.
“You do realize that Belvina must have been very hurt to hear that from you!”
“I know, Anggi. I’m a bad man who can’t take care of Belvina’s heart. But know this, Gi. I was set up, I was set up by Nara and Kiano in New York. They were so sneaky to ask my opinion about their client. And you know, it was all a ruse on their part. They put stimulants in the alcohol I was drinking. I didn’t know anything, Gi, they all set me up for the night I didn’t realize I had done that with Nara.” Gifer tried to explain to Anggi so that she wouldn’t misunderstand him and should also know what really happened. Anggi seemed to be thinking after hearing Gifer’s explanation.
“It happened the night before you picked me up at the airport. I already wanted to tell this to Belvina that day, but I was still in shock from what happened that night. So I tried to hold it in, but when I got to the apartment, I told Haris everything. Haris was also the one who tried to make me accept reality and not think too much about it. But I always thought about it and sooner or later Belvina would find out. I just wanted Belvina to know everything from me, not from other people, especially Kiano. Kiano was also at the same place when Belvina and I were dating. I’m just afraid Kiano will tell her first instead of me. That would hurt Belvina more, right? That’s why I told her tonight.” Gifer explained at length so Anggi could understand everything.
“What? Haris already knows too? Damn, he didn’t tell me at all. Just watch out later, I’ll give you a ticket too.” Anggi said with an annoyed expression on his face.
“But… Gif, your thinking is very mature. You’re a good and honest man. I trust you. Maybe, Belvina will be very angry with you, I don’t know if Belvina will accept you back or not. Usually, after seeing from the past, when Belvina was still in college with me, if she had broken up with her boyfriend, Belvina would disappear and would never again accept love from the man who hurt her. I don’t know what to do now. Especially after finding out you got Nara pregnant, Belvina must be very hurt.” Anggi said. Gifer looked down.
“I know, but… should I marry Nara, when I don’t love her at all? That night was a mistake. Kiano also asked me to admit that the child was mine when it was born even though I didn’t take care of it.”
“Then admit it, that’s the truth, isn’t it? The child is just an innocent baby. I will try to persuade Belvina. If you love her, will you wait for her to accept this fact, Gif? Asked Anggi. Gifer raised his head to face Anggi and nodded.
“Alright, I’ll wait until that time comes.”
