Chapter 65
Chapter 65
Sofia’s POV
“It’s Sofia, no use of ma’am as well, remember?” I said to her at first and watched as a look of
realization crossed her face before she nodded her head immediately and shifted a little bit forward
until our knees were touching on the couch.
“My bad, I’m so sorry, Sofia. I keep forgetting.” Matilda said and I nodded my head with a small smile to
dismiss the small distressed look on her face.
“What can I eat for dinner? I don’t feel like eating a thing tonight.” I started to say before letting out a
small sigh and leaning my back against the back rest of the couch I was sitting in before I continued, “ I
honestly wish I could make use of the drugs without having to eat a thing, that sounds like a lot of work
to me right now.”
“Sofia!” Sarah called out from her spot on the couch and I watched as the horrified expression on her
face turned into that on a stern one.
“Did you forget what just happened to you a few hours ago yet?” Sarah started to say and I breathed
out a deep sigh before sitting up and starting to say.
“No, you don’t understand what I meant. I meant that I wished I could, not that I planned to do just that.
I won’t do something like that this quick after I just finished seeing the doctor.” I said to her and sucked This content provided by N(o)velDrama].[Org.
in a deep breath when another part of my stomach received the biting stabbing pain this time, making
me wince a little and breathing out a little bit harshly from my nose.
“It still sounds almost like the same thing, you’d only be hurting yourself even more even if you feel it
wouldn’t do a thing to your body system.” Sarah paused before continuing, “I mean, imagine if Ryan
had not been there when you had come down the stairs and seen you struggling to move from a
particular spot because of how intense the pain you were feeling was.” Sarah continued to stop before
finally ending her sentence.
I made to reply to her but Matilda beat me to it, “Ryan hadn’t been the one to lift her up from the
ground, that had been Mr Ricci.” Matilda said with the excited looo still on her face. I felt my face start
to burn embarrassingly as the thought of Luca– who was still sick and was supposed to be resting,
having to lift me up from the floor and cradle me in his arms, stared to float around in my head the
moment after Matilda brought that particular detail up.
“Was it him? Were you there when it happened?” Sarah had asked, referring to Matilda and appearing
almost doubtful.
“Of course I had been there. I was just leaving the kitchen when it happened.” Matilda started to say
again I watched Sarah start to nod her head after a few moments.
“My Ricci had lifted her up immediately and Ryan had shifted away from her as well. I mean, Mr Luca
has appeared almost possessive on seeing Sofia leaning on the arm of Ryan and the moment she had
passed out, Mr Ricci had taken it up from there, lifting Sofia up as if she weighed nothing and going into
the sitting room to lay her on the couch.” Matilda continued to explain, going into full details this time
and I felt my cheeks heat up even more as my chest started to feel extended light in my heart.
She said he had acted almost possessive?
Possessive of me?
That had definitely got to be a confusion and misinterpretation, perhaps Matilda had been too excited
about the whole thing happening and had gone ahead and imagined stuff and emotions that hadn’t
even happened in the first place.
“Whoa, that’s a lot. Well it’s a good thing he’s possessive of her, that just shows that he's so much into
her. Isn’t that right, Matilda?” Sarah started to say after a few seconds of silence and my eyes widened
as I stared at Sarah, never expecting her to have said those words.
Well, why was I surprised in the first place? This was someone that spends a lot of time with Matilda
from day to day, of course Matilda must have succeeded in filling her head with cliches, thoughts and
imaginations that were just way too good to be true and unreal.
“Sarah! Not you too.” I said to Sarah as I rolled my eyes a little but Matilda started to speak before
Sarah could begin to reply.
“Oh, but she’s extremely right. It’s a good thing he’s possessive, it means he’s completely into you and
cannot handle the thought of another man being too close to you.” Matilda started to say as a small
sigh that I could only place under the category of longing, drifted out of her mouth just as she continued
to speak once again. “I mean, did you see the look on his face right before he lifted you off the floor,
into his arms?” Matilda demanded, turning towards me this time. I pursed my lips and she grinned
before shaking her head and continued almost immediately, “My bad, I had totally forgotten that you
were the one who passed out at that moment, so of course you’ve completely missed the look he had
on his face at that particular moment.”
I dragged in a deep breath, ignoring the small flutter that had began to flap around in my chest at that
very moment. I breathed out another sigh, these people were going to do nothing but end up putting
different kinds of thoughts into my head at this point if I still keep on allowing them to talk about this
topic.
“Let’s just forget about that already, shall we? You all are starting to look into every little thing way too
much.” I said to both of them, staring from one woman’s face to the other’s.
“But Sofia,” Matilda started to say in argument but Sarah thankfully decided to act like I expected her to
at this very moment. “Let the child be, she’s right after all. Let’s just drop this topic for now, alright?”
“That means we could talk about it at another time, right?” Matilda asked after a few seconds and I
narrowed my eyes at her with a purse of my lips.
“Aw c’mon Sofia, you know I am right.” Matilda started to say with a small laugh and I shook my head
immediately, also couldn’t help the small laugh that escaped my parted lips at Matilda. “No, I don’t. I
passed out, remember?” I said to her and she huffed out another breath before nudging my shoulder a
little.
“So what would you like for dinner, Sofia?” Sarah asked this time and I pursed my lips almost
immediately, my lower lip sliding into my mouth in the next second as I chewed on the side of my lower
lip almost absentmindedly.
“Um, I honestly don’t know. I don’t even feel hungry at all.” I said to Sarah with a small shrug of my
shoulders and the look she gave to me at the next moment wasn’t an impressed one at all.
“But you need to eat something before making use of your drugs so you can get enough sleep tonight.”
Sarah started to say once again and I huffed out a quiet breath, not bothering to point out the fact that
that since it was already past twelve hours since the start of my monthly period, that it was going to be
almost impossible for me to get a peaceful sleep tonight, coupled with the vexed worms of mine who
were still attaching my stomach.
“What about tea? I could drink a little tea and make use of the drugs.” I said to Sarah with a small shrug
of my shoulder, after all the doctor had said I had passed out for a different reason and not because of
my intake of drugs on an empty stomach.
“Tea isn’t good enough for you to make use of tonight, and also because you didn’t eat anything this
afternoon.” Sarah said almost immediately, dismissing the thought out of my head instantly.
“Do you think you can stomach some chicken soup? You don’t feel nauseous, do you?” Matilda asked
this time and I shook my head immediately, the thought of chicken soup touching my tongue and sliding
down my throat making me recoil and leaving an irritating feeling behind.
“No, I cannot.” I said to her and shifted in my seat, lifting up my left fingers to rub it against the middle
of my forehead which had started to throb a little once again.
“What about waffles? You said it was one of your favorite foods, right?” Matilda suggested once again
and I stared at her quietly without saying a thing, the genuine concern bleeding out of their voices as
they each suggested what I could have for dinner tonight.
All of these were completely new to me and they were going to make me cry at this point with how they
were making me feel like I matter.
For once in my life, I was starting to feel like I mattered…
“Oh my gosh, Sofia? Are you crying?” Matilda suddenly asked and I jolted a little, reading my hands
upwards to touch my cheeks.
Indeed, it was a little bit wet with tears.
“No, no. I am not.” I replied to her and sniffed back tears, swiping my fingers against my cheeks to wipe
my tears off, having no reasons as to why I was crying once again.
Making it the second time I was shedding tears today.
I was such an emotional wreck.
I felt Matilda’s arms wrapped around my shoulders to pull me into her arms and I hesitated for a few
seconds before giving in and squeezing her tight in my arms, the tears I was trying to fight back a
moment ago, sliding down my cheeks, drop after drop.
A sound never escaped my lips as I cried soundlessly in Matilda’s arms while Sarah watched quietly for
a few moments before she proceeded to cast down her head downwards.
