Billionaire’s Pampered Wife

Chapter 756 Clouded Goodbye

Stella was still decorating Lawrence’s room when Carol came back. She went ahead to prepare some food for Lawrence.

Stella spent more than half an hour decorating the room.

“Doctor Grace, thank you so much for coming. Please give me a moment. Lunch should be done soon. Please join us before you leave,” Carol said happily, seeing that Lawrence was finally eating.

“Thank you for the offer but I have to take a raincheck. I have an appointment in the afternoon. Have a good rest after your meal. Lawrence, see you next week,” Stella said with a smile.

“See you,” Lawrence said politely.

Stella nodded and left. She drove to the research center, found a nearby coffee shop, ordered a steak, a latte, and a chocolate cake.

She read an article before that said that having sweet food would improve one’s mood, and listening to beautiful music could relax the mind, but eating a good meal could satisfy all the above.

She cut the steak with an elegant grace and inadvertently looked towards the door.

A man in a suit walked in.

He was tall, and from her perspective, he was good-looking and he emitted suaveness. His eyes were fathomless, seemingly holding nothing in them. His gaze turned towards Stella, and he looked a little familiar to her.

“Black,” Stella blurted out.

Black walked towards her indifferently, nodded, and said, “Stella.”

When Stella heard her name, she knew that he was Black. “What a coincidence. Are you also here for a meal?”

“Yes,” Black didn’t say much.

“Let’s eat together if you don’t mind. We could go to the research center after we’re done,” Stella said with a smile.

“Great,” Black sat across Stella.

Stella raised her hand and called out, “Excuse me.”

The waiter came over with the menu and handed it to him.

Black ordered a set meal and returned the menu to the waiter.

“Your name is special, Black. Does it have any special meaning?” Stella asked curiously.

He looked at her, his eyes as deep as the vast universe.

She could infer that he was a well-educated and sophisticated man, who came from an affluent background. He was successful and he was once hurt deeply before as well, but apart from that, it was impossible to tell what was going on in his mind.

“It represents my world, the same as this name, all black,” Black said sadly.

“Everything will be well. Think about it in another way, and it will all be clear like the sky,” Stella comforted him with a smile.

Black lowered his eyes and didn’t say anything.

He was a man of few words.

Stella saw the necklace on his neck, “This may seem abrupt, but there’s something I would like to ask. If I don’t, I think that I may have trouble sleeping. Who is the person in the photo in your necklace?”

“My wife,” Black said in a low voice.

Stella paused. She had a strange feeling in her heart. She then looked at his face.

If she was truly his wife, then his attitude didn’t make sense at all. He was too calm.

“Do I resemble your wife?” Stella asked.

Black stared at Stella intensely, “You are completely different from her.”

“Oh,” Stella felt a little awkward, thinking that she might have mistaken it at that time. She smiled and asked, “Where is she now?”

“She went to a white world,” Black said gruffly.

Stella didn’t like the vibe he was exuding at that moment. It felt gloomy, and it felt as though he had already given up on himself.

Most of her patients were like him, but she still preferred to get along with cheerful people, as her mood was easily affected.

“I’m sorry,” Stella didn’t feel like talking anymore. She took a sip of coffee and continued to cut the steak.

Black’s eyes lingered on her face. It was as though he was afraid that he might lose the chance to see her again. No one noticed that his hands under the table were tightly clenched.

Stella’s cell phone rang at this moment. She looked at the caller ID and noticed that it was Allen. She smiled and answered the call.

“Hey, Allen, what’s up?” Stella asked happily.

“I missed you, so I called,” Allen laughed.

“I think that I will have a good night’s sleep today since you missed me that much.”

“I shall call you every day and tell you just how much I miss you so that you would sleep well then.”

“Sure,” Stella said with a smile.

Allen laughed, “I’ll be flying to the States tomorrow. Are you free to meet up?”

“Of course. What time will you be arriving? I could pick you up from the airport and you could stay over at my place,” Stella said with a smile.Text © owned by NôvelDrama.Org.

Allen beamed, “Then I’ll cover all the expenses for you, including the expenses for your expensive bags.”

“I’ll try my best to buy lots of them,” Stella said jokingly.

“Deal. If you don’t buy any, I’ll make sure to buy tonnes and shove them into your house.”

Stella chuckled, “Well, you’re richer than a country. So I don’t feel sorry when I use your money.”

Black’s face darkened, as though a storm was about to erupt anytime soon. The nails on his fists dug into his palms hard. Fortunately, the nails were kept short.

After Stella ended the call, she hung up and tucked her phone into her bag.

“Boyfriend?” Black asked in a strange voice.

“Better than a boyfriend? He’s a soul mate, I guess? It’s more appropriate to use this word,” Stella explained.

Black’s face darkened even more, and then he left.

Looking at his cold back, Stella realized that Black was cold, arrogant, and judgmental in his own way.

She did not let it affect her mood, and she continued eating her steak.

After a while, the waiter served the food that Black had ordered.

They were chicken wings. Coincidentally, she felt like having them so she picked one up. When she finished eating the wing, she was embarrassed to find that Black was back.

He sat in front of her, not saying a word.

“I’m sorry. I thought that you were gone for good, so I ate one of your chicken wings. You could have something else first. I’ll order another portion for you,” Stella said as she waved to the waiter.

The waiter walked over.

“Give me another portion of chicken wings please,” Stella said with a smile.

“Okay, ma’am, please give me a moment,” The waiter said as he turned to give the order.

Stella remained calm, as though nothing had happened, and continue with her steak.

“I heard that you could hypnotize a person’s memories and make them forget what they want to forget,” Black looked at her and asked.

Stella nodded. “In theory, this is the case. However, many people are not willing to forget their memories. The bigger the hurt, the greater the joy they had before. Once you’re hypnotized, all of it will be gone.”

“What sort of person would want to erase their memory then?” Black asked, looking at her with burning eyes. His gaze seemed to be shrouded in secrets with a hidden pain beneath…
