Chapter 26 She Has Nowhere To Run
Chapter 26 She Has Nowhere To Run
Jessica and Lorenzo looked at each other in the eyes. Lorenzo's eyes were as serene as water. He
didn't say anything, which only made Jessica more nervous.
"Thank you so much for helping me."
Jessica lowered her head and murmured.
"You've already thanked me verbally twice tonight. Is that all you can do?"
Jessica acted like a child who had made mistakes. She was so afraid of being reprimanded by her
parents, so she tried to be as invisible as she could. Seeing that, Lorenzo arched his lips, but his eyes
remained as cold as ever.
Jessica didn't know what to do. She could only stand there, frozen.
"What are you doing?"
Lorenzo's slender fingers with beautiful knuckles fell on Jessica's torn clothes. Jessica Grabbed his big
hand hurriedly, trying to stop him. Lorenzo could see apparent panic and vigilance in her eyes.
"I'm not going to do anything to you... Or do you want to bond a 'deeper' connection with me?"
Lorenzo scoffed with a smile. Then he snorted and quickly helped Jessica to tidy up her disheveled
clothes.
"I... Can I go to see Rosa in the hospital?" Content held by NôvelDrama.Org.
Jessica tentatively opened her mouth and asked. She almost failed in every argument with Lorenzo.
Moreover, Lorenzo didn't seem in a very good mood now. If he really picked on her now, Jessica would
be so embarrassed. She might find a way to run and never want to see Lorenzo again.
As Lorenzo's handsome face kept getting closer to her, she had to lean back until there was no more
space. Her face blushed like an apple.
"You'll see her very soon."
Jessica felt so embarrassed because she was sitting on his lap in front of so many people. He held
Jessica tightly in his arms, but Jessica silently tried to get out of his cuddle.
However, Lorenzo refused to let her go. He held her tighter and looked at her, warning her not to move
around in his arms. Then he raised his hand and flicked her smooth forehead playfully as a bit of
punishment.
Jessica raised her hand to cover her forehead. She then pouted. As unhappy as she was, she wouldn't
dare to confront Lorenzo.
There was a lot of traffic outside the car window. The lively sense caught Jessica's attention. She
wanted to look out, only to see the reflection of Lorenzo's handsome face on the window glass. It
looked vague, yet she was deeply attracted and lost in her thoughts.
"Have you ever listened to me at least once?"
Lorenzo had withdrawn into sullen silence. He had no way to vent his anger and could only pull on his
tie.
"It was my fault that I didn't tell you what I would do, and the way I'm doing this can be very
dangerous... But our marriage was no more than a contract, which means we're not a real couple. I
shouldn't bother you with everything."
After what happened on the interactive program last time, Jessica didn't want to beat around the bush
with him anymore. She decided to make things clear with him, so that they wouldn't have any
misunderstandings.
"That's your thought? Do you really think so?"
Lorenzo's face darkened. His eyes turned more frigid than ever.
"Yes, that's exactly what I thought."
Jessica didn't want to lie to him. So she decided to honestly tell him what she was thinking.
"Sit aside and stay away from me."
Lorenzo glared at her irritably, telling her to get out of his cuddle right away.
Jessica had never seen him getting angry. He looked a bit gloomy and scared now.
Jessica hurriedly moved away from Lorenzo's arms and sat aside. She thought to herself that the man
was high maintenance. He got provoked easily by trifles.
"Okay."
Jessica replied in a low voice and moved her seat obediently, trying not to provoke Lorenzo again.
Seeing what Jessica was doing, Lorenzo didn't even know whether he should be angry or laugh. They
had known each other for so long, but he had never seen her being so obedient.
...
They stopped talking as if they had reached an agreement. Then they went to the best ward of the
hospital.
Rosa was already in the ward when Jessica saw her. She was surrounded by many experts, and with
all kinds of tunes and wires over her body.
Lorenzo hadn't said a word, but Jessica knew this was his arrangement. Lorenzo was surprisingly calm
and reliable, and because of that attractive quality, Jessica had to resist her urge to cuddle up to him.
Seeing the busy doctors and experts around the bed, Jessica knew Rosa's condition was already
critical. To be honest, Jessica knew that they were barely extending Rosa's life artificially.
For some reason, Jessica's eyes welled up. Tears came to her eyes, and she felt stuffy in her chest.
The feeling was complicated, and she couldn't tell what it exactly was.
"What's done is done. It's useless to be so anxious. Why don't you go to the lounge and relax your
tense nerves? You've been nervous for almost a whole night."
Lorenzo said considerately as he looked at Jessica with concern. He wanted her to take good care of
herself first.
Jessica nodded, then she heard somebody walking over from behind. When she turned over, she saw
two people. She remembered having seen them in the hunter's hut. The two were walking towards
them.
"Hello, Jessica, my dear sister-in-law!"
Lucian smiled and greeted Jessica.
Jessica was a bit surprised when hearing Lucian calling that, but she wasn't going to argue with him.
She nodded and went to the lounge reserved for them by the hospital.
"Ma'am, I know you were worried, but you should at least take care of yourself first. Mr. Fletcher asked
me to cook some fresh and sweet dishes and bake your favorite rose cake at home, and here they are.
You may want to take them when they are still hot."
The housekeeper said as she walked forward with a thermal insulation bucket in his hand. Then she
put it on the desk and opened it.
It had been quite a long day for Jessica. She had been anxious and scared. Now that everything was
settled, she finally found that she hadn't eaten anything during the day. She was also surprised that
although Lorenzo looked cold distant, he had kept an eye on her all the time and was even afraid that
she might be hungry.
Lorenzo didn't speak. He put one hand in his pocket and stood by the massive floor-to-ceiling window.
Lorenzo was a dangerous man to Jessica, for every move of his could make her obsessed.
Jessica couldn't let herself go with her feelings, for that would sooner or later backfire on her seriously.
"This is my personal matter. I'd feel guilty to keep your friends waiting here. Why don't you let them go
back? I can do this by myself."
Jessica stepped behind Lorenzo and whispered to him.
"Why did you ghost me and ignore my texts?"
Lorenzo asked as he turned over and looked at Jessica.
"I... I was busy and didn't notice you texted me."
Jessica made an excuse to explain after a short pause.
"You were busy? Even busier than me? I've contacted you in every way. Don't tell me that you haven't
seen any of them."
"Damn, dude? Since when you've started to use the interactive program? We’ve invited you so many
times before, yet you always told us that you're too busy. It looks like Jessica's words worked much
better than ours."
Lucian mocked with a funny expression, as if he had seen something unbelievable.
Lucian was quite good at getting along with strangers. He trotted to Jessica, titled his head, and
grinned a smile at her.
"Get the hell out of my sight."
Lorenzo said grimly, as he turned over and looked at Lucian.
Having felt the tension in the room, the housekeeper coughed and made up an excuse. Then she
turned around and went out.
"Okay, I've got other things to do. Please have fun. I have to leave now."
Lucian didn't want cannon fodder here. He could tell how angry Lorenzo was. Therefore he hurriedly
followed the housekeeper out of the room.
...
Jessica was surprised by what Lucian had just said. Lorenzo finally installed an interactive program,
but she was his only contact in the APP.
"Give me your phone."
Lorenzo asked angrily.
"What for? You've got your own," Jessica replied.
Lorenzo didn't want to fight with her. He grabbed her phone over and checked their chat history, and
then he found that she had already read all the messages he had sent to her.
"You'd better have a good reason."
Lorenzo wasn't in good humor today. He looked sullen on his face.
"What else can I say? You've already seen it. It's exactly like how you think."
Jessica wanted to get her phone back, but Lorenzo wouldn't let her.
Lorenzo's face became more and more frigid. He had worked overtime and didn't have time to sleep.
He worked himself out just to save time and see Jessica as soon as possible. However, this little
woman didn't seem grateful for it."
Jessica was very close to him now. She kept blowing the unique and sweet breath of a young woman
into his nose.
Lorenzo's big and sexy Adam's apple moved as he swallowed. He wanted to regulate Jessica right at
this place, so that she wouldn't be so presumptuous in front of him.
"Can't you just behave yourself?"
Lorenzo's voice was getting hoarse and low. He looked at Jessica, who was jumping up to get her
phone, and then his gaze became strange.
Jessica hesitated for a moment before realizing what he meant.
"You're really bold, aren't you? You kept messing with me as if you had nothing better to do, and after
that, you just left without doing anything. It was your mistake, but you made it about me. I think you do
need me to regulate you hard."
Lorenzo pulled Jessica over and turned her around quietly. Then he sandwiched Jessica between him
and the wall. Now Jessica had no way to run.
