Don’t Fall for the Billionaire Lover

Chapter 575

Chapter 575

Lisa's face changed instantly.

"Are you going to leave me too?"

Ann, caught off guard, replied, "Sweetie, what are you talking about? You're my daughter. How could I ever leave you?"

"Then why won't you help me?"

Lisa almost shouted, "You never used to be like this. You used to help me with everything."

"I get it now. Ever since Chloe came into the picture, you've changed. You have your own flesh and blood now, so naturally, you don't care about me anymore. You don't want me. But Ann, what right do you have to look down on me? I was born into a rich family, and I've been your daughter for twenty years. Do you even realize the kind of life I've lived compared to Chloe?"

Ann slumped to the floor, feeling utterly drained. "Sweetie, all these years, I've tried my best."

Ann felt a constant sense of debt towards Lisa, especially after the truth unraveled during Lisa's sophomore year. She discovered Lisa wasn't her biological daughter. Yet, out of selfishness, she kept this under wraps. Since then, her conscience plagued her daily, and her guilt towards Lisa only grew deeper. This, of course, made Lisa more demanding and reckless.

Seeing Lisa like this now, Ann had a moment of clarity. It was her fault. Her guilt had made her too lenient, too forgiving. Even if she let Lisa off the hook this time, nothing would change. Lisa would only continue her vendetta against Chloe.

Tears streamed down Ann's cheeks. "Sweetie, I can't help you. I can't just stand by and watch you mess up again. I've helped you before, but I can't keep enabling you."

Fueled by fury, Lisa lunged at Ann, gripping her shoulders, her teeth clenched in anger. "How could you do this to me? You can't treat me like this. I hate you, and I'll hate you forever."

Just then, the door to the visitation room swung open.

The policewoman said with a cold tone, "Lisa, visiting time is up."

But Lisa wasn't ready to give up. She started lashing out at Ann with kicks and punches.Text content © NôvelDrama.Org.

"Lisa, what are you doing?"

The policewoman quickly called for backup, and two officers came in to pull Lisa away.

Ann sat there, her hair a mess, heartache written all over her face.

Lisa had been such a sweet child, always smiling since the day she was born. That's why Ann had called her "Sweetie." But John's shadow loomed too large over her life.

John was a gambler and a drunk.

Every time he got wasted, he'd come home and unleash his rage, hitting her and the young child. Ann always fought to shield Lisa. But the

constant violence filled Lisa's childhood with fear and darkness.

It wasn't like she hadn't thought of running away. John refused to divorce, and Ann had tried to run off with Lisa several times. But John ever the scoundrel, always tracked them down and responded with even more brutal beatings

She felt trapped, trying to survive in silence. She'd hand over the money she earned to John just to buy a brief moment of peace. But at some point, Lisa changed. She became aggressive, violent, causing trouble at school. During her teenage years, she skipped classes to fight, getting into all sorts of trouble.

But Ann never once thought of giving up on her. Because she was her daughter.

After crying for a while, Ann got up and walked out. Just as she stepped outside, she ran into Leah.

Seeing Leah's face, Ann froze completely. Her whole body stiffened, rooted to the spot, unable to move. The shock on her face and the sudden wave of panic had nowhere to go.
