Her Undeniable Temptation

Part 21

stared at her for a long time that she had to ask him what he was thinking about. ”Well, I am thinking about the football game, precisely how you got mad at me, and last night, I guess I flattered myself to think you were a bit jealous of Bella.” Alex plainly explained.

“Do you think I’m jealous?” She asked Alex, looking stunned. Apparently, she wasn’t as good at hiding her crush on him as she thought. He shrugged, staring at her while keenly watching her reaction.

“I’m not jealous, Alex,” she lied. ”It’s weird having my friends kind of like each other! That’s all I can think of. I’m not sure on how to handle it.” she continued. ”You do like her, right?” Zoe asked hoping her voice wouldn’t give away on how the question was burning inside her.

”Who? Oh, Bella! Yeah of course, what not to like about her?” He asked with a shrug. Zoe instantly felt like a deflated balloon hearing his voice. An ache started to form in her chest. It was really painful and too hard for Zoe to continue the direction of the conversation.

So, she just asked the first question she could think of. “So why did you come to my house again?” Zoe’s voice came out sounding toneless to her. ”I wanted to ask if you do like to go trick or treating with me?” Alex asked with a smile on his face.

”But if you are already planning on staying home all day, no big deal though.” He said with his eyes roaming her pajamas. She couldn’t say anything other than a blush. ”Actually, I didn’t dress up today.” she said feeling embarrassed.

Alex smiled more genuinely this time. ”Great, would you like to come with me then?” Alex asked hopefully. Him asking her sounded better than depressing all day at home. ”Where are you going too?” Alex asked as she hedged to buy herself some time.

“Should I really go out alone with Alex at night?” Zoe battered herself.

” Umm, yeah.” She thought.

‘Would it make me a bad friend not to invite Bella along?” She thought yet again.

” Maybe!” She whispered to herself with a smile. “Was I going to call her?” She thought while glaring at Alex who flashed her a smile.

“Nope!” She thought.

“Should I tell Derrick where I am going too?” She asked herself.

” Of course but will I?” She inquired to herself. “No way!” She mumbled biting on her bottom lips. “Was I the worst person ever?” Alright, she would get back to you on that.

”I don’t have a custom to actually wear?” Zoe said with a frown. Alex grinned as he pulled out two masks. Zoe should have known that he was coming prepared. “Fine, I will go with you but I can’t be out too late and you have to wait for me to get dressed,” she said feeling much better right now.

”Alright, I can deal with those conditions.” Alex said as he strolled inside the house. Zoe strolled up the stairs as Alex walked behind her! She could feel her face getting hot.

She turned to face him, ”Wait downstairs while I change.” she said but Alex raised an eyebrow, “I can’t wait in your room?” He asked, confusion masked on his face.

Zor stared at him, maybe her cheeks were close to catching flame. “No! That’s where I’m getting dressed,” she mumbled uncomfortably.

”I will come with you and I won’t look.” He said with the most mischievous look she had ever seen but she smacked his Arm playfully to halt those nasty things he was thinking.Published by Nôv'elD/rama.Org.

“Can you just go?” She asked. He just laughed and strolled down the stairs. Did he really think he could follow Zoe to her room and watch her dress up? Zoe briskly combed her hair and applied her step-mum l*p gloss since she had none.

She grabbed her jacket before heading downstairs. She met Alex staring at the family frame on the wall. She strolled close to him as he turned, smiling at her. “ready?” Alex asked, making her nod.

They strolled outside as she locked the door with her spare key. ”Which way?” she asked determined not to meet up with Alex’s eyes. He pointed and she strolled in the direction without arguing. They passed a few houses but didn’t stop right away.

”Here!” Alex said, handing her the mask. Zoe glanced up to notice his mask was already on. She tried to repress a smile but failed.

Damn him for making her feel better. She pulled her mask on as he led them to the first house. After half an hour their pockets were already filled with candy.

”May I ask why you looked depressed today?” Alex asked but she bit the bottom of her lips before answering. ”Because Luke left me in the dance early and he hasn’t arrived home ever since.” Zoe blatantly lied.

Alex turned his mask face in her direction. “Huh! Do you know what? I wouldn’t have left you at the dance if I was your date.” Alex thoughtfully said but that only made her frown. She was mad at him but of course, he just couldn’t see that.

”But you did leave me though,” she pointed out quietly. ”What? No, I didn’t.” Alex said, with a surprised-filled voice.

“Oh yes, you did! you stopped dancing with me to dance with Bella.” Zoe explained feeling embarrassed to have to say this. ”Oh, I suppose so but I wasn’t your date.” Alex said, almost sounding angry. They were quiet for a little bit.

Finally, Alex sighed.

“Even if I wasn’t your date, I apologize for leaving you alone.” He said in a formal voice. Zoe couldn’t help but smile. She got the feeling that Alex doesn’t like people getting mad at him, even over little things.

She suddenly felt stupid for spending the whole of her day mopping over a fit of stupid jealousy, so he danced with Bella? What the freakin deal about that? Zoe felt she was going to have a long talk with herself about what was worth getting upset about and not. She thought to herself wisely.

They went to tons of houses, and an old witch felt bad for them and gave them each bag and some candy. They eventually had so many candies to eat until their Pack celebration. They both headed back to her house.

When they got there, Alex hesitated on the front porch while she pulled off her mask and gave it back to him. He kept his on though and Zoe wasn’t sure why.

”So, tonight was a lot of fun.” she said mostly to fill up the silence that had taken over. This is the part where they would k**s good night if this was actually a date but it wasn’t. So it’s just them standing here awkwardly instead.

”Yeah,” He replied, nodding his head.

She felt ridiculous talking to him with his mask on his face. ”See you at school then?” She said then smiled a little. He pulled his mask off and stared at his feet briefly before meeting her curious eyes.

Something in his expression made her heart speed up like he was about to say something. He was now chewing on his lips and that was actually sexy. Zoe felt like she couldn’t move! She was staring into his eyes and feeling really lost.

He leaned towards close to her lips in a kind of slow-motion, it felt like his eyes were never leaving hers. Just as he was inches away. Zoe happened to come to my senses and turned her head away. His lips ended up just brushing her cheeks.

That little touch was enough to make it burn nicely, why hadn’t that burning feeling just been a figment of her imagination in the closet? Why did it feel the same even when she was sober?

”Damn!”

“Damn, damn.” She cursed softly.
