Hint of Darkness and Light

Bond

Verena’s POV

“It’s like you have another choice.” Damon said while he is occupied on finding a t-shirt that will look presentable to me.

The door of the room swing open and Damien entered the room. His brown almond eyes swept the room.

He meticulously eyed Damon.

“I’m also invited for the suffer.” He announced.

“Fuck off. I told you to buy clothes for her. And you didn’t even had the balls to borrow from Rox.” A strange light filled his pale blue eyes.

“Can you stop bickering Damon, I’ll wear what you have.”

“You should bathe yourself Verena.” Damien’s thick voice laced on my skin.

Screw it. I smell like dog’s shit. It’s pretty embarrassing if they can smell me meters away. I shaked my head.

“Do you have hot water?” I turn my head to Damon. He eyed me from my lips to the valley of my mounds. His hot glance might burn through my thin dress.

“You smell of Damon.” Damien said.

“How?” I replied.

It took a minute for me to get what he was referencing. When I did, my mouth dropped open.

My cheeks burn from embarrassment. Right they’re breeds of dogs so their sense of smell are heightened.

Damien’s smile could only be described as wolfish. “I’m going to bathe.”

Damon didn’t said anything but I can feel he is also irritated to Damien.

Gathering up the new clothing and hurrying into the bathing room. I closed the door behind me, annoyed when I saw there was no lock.

Cursing under my breath, I looked around and found several hooks on the wall. I hung the plain white tshirt there and the simple large shorts of Damon. I even get to wear his stupid briefs and I’ll reused my brassiere. Nasty. This content provided by N(o)velDrama].[Org.

I quickly stripped and stepped into the bath, ignoring the twinge of pain of my limbs as I sank into the lavender-scented water.

My stomach turned over as I used the bar of soap to wash my hair. When suds ran down the back of my neck, I dipped under the water and held myself there.

I stayed until my lungs and throat burned, and white spots sparked behind my closed eyes. Only then did I break the surface, gasping for air.

“I guess this is my life now huh?” A strangled, hoarse-sounding laugh escaped me.

How could I even pretend his wannabe mate for my entire stay in here. Seems so stupid.

I mulled over the options in my head. Escape.

Escaping him would be nearly impossible. But I had to try, and there had to be a way.

I needed a weapon, any weapon, or any possible reasons for him to talk. I just needed time.

When I’m done changing I got out of the bath room.

Damon directly comes into view. Damien is nowhere to be found in the room.

“Done?” Damon asked while still busy typing on his laptop.

“Do you have a blow dryer?”

“It’s on the drawer.”

His eyes now scan me from head to toe.

“You look good with my clothes.” His head cocked to the side as a half-grin appeared.

“Was I going to be kept here until whenever time you deemed fit for me to leave?”

The grin deepened. “I’m quite comfortable for you being around with me. I don’t know your secrets but I think my wolf wishes to bond with you.”

“I won’t do the things your wolf wants me to.” I muttered, sitting up.

“If it’s the case we’re going to make it for ya.” He murmured.

“What?” I demanded.

He frowned as if something had just irritated him.

The nerves of this guy. I want to punch him. But for once I felt guilty for stabbing him. That could have killed him. And that will lead for the whole nutcase pack to torment me or burn me to death.

“I’m sorry.” I whispered.

He hummed and paused to look at me once again. He shut his laptop off.

“You’re not. I can smell your anger. Can’t even smell that your sorry.”

Surprised, my gaze shot to his.

“I am. And your weird nose won’t smell if I’m blocking the walls of my emotions.”

“You’re learning pretty fast.”

Annoyed, I shoved the quilt off my legs and scooted to the other side of the bed.

“I thought we’re going to your father?”

“He cancelled. But I should and report you to the elders. A witch stabbed the future of the pack.”

I stood. “Then why don’t you?”

“I don’t want you to spend time away from me.”

“They would kill me right?”

I stared at him, hands opening and closing at my sides while he remained seated on the bed.

“No because they are all informed that you are my mate.”

“Are you nuts?”

“It’s the only way for you to be safe.” He said, his voice still calm.

“I’d rather die early than experience the shits you want me to put my self into.”

Satisfaction surged when I caught the way his jaw tightened.

“Tell me the real reason why did you got shot.”

The memories of that night came rushing back to me.

“I’m a professional spy from a black market operations and organization.”

“Spying is a profession nowadays?”

I rolled my eyes. “I didn’t had any back ups that night because I lost my earpiece. But I knew I was supposed to be framed. I saw one of my team mates in the field.”

“He openly fired at the target that was supposed to be my shot away from the ground field.”

“So came to save him? Impressive.”

“Yeah, he’s a friend.”

“But he sabotaged you right?”

I took a deep breath. “I’m still not sure.”

He was quiet for a moment. “You killed your target?”

“Yes and I kinda managed to survive til I got out of the event hall.”

“The pack was busy that time. Finding for traces of the rogues.”

Disbelief widened my eyes as I focused on him once more.

“Your pack was attacked?” I curiously asked.

“No but there are faint smells over the border. And they came back yesterday.”

“Why? Do you guys know the reason?”

“Dad said they’re must be finding for something.”

“Something like what?”

“I’m not sure yet.”

“You think this place is still safe? I would like to go home safe and sound.”

“You’ll be safe with me. Unless you’ll pull off another dumb idea of escaping.”

“I’m hungry, could you fetch a rabbit so I cam cook our dinner. Or probably ‘my dinner’.”

His brows furrowed then he pulled the most devilish smile he’s been hiding.

“I eat normal foods, and our food is already serve at the dining hall no need for you to cook Kinzhe.”

“Can you stop calling me that stupid pet name?”

I squeaked, almost coming out of my skin when he suddenly stood in front of me, moving so fast and so quietly I nearly missed it.

“Gods,” I muttered, pressing my hand to my pounding heart.

“But I love your pet name.”

His eyes glowed a fiery ocean blue as he glared down at me.

“Suit yourself Demon the Damon.”

He laughed then smack me on my ass that caught me off guard.

“What the fuck Damon.” I hissed, smacking him on his chest.

Before I can escaped him. He took that step toward me, and my spine locked up as I refused to back away. His eyes burned brighter.

“You’ll never have a chance to escape from me. Our bloods our linked to each other. You are mine Verena.”

My eyes widened as I lowered my arms. “You’re…there’s something wrong with you.”

“I’m not your mate.” I retorted.

He glared at me with burning passion.

“I just knew something is off. But you will stay by my side and act like a dutiful mate until the fates said otherwise,” he said. “And I’ll find a way to break the fucking thin wall that’s stoping me to fucking claim you.”

I sucked in a sharp, stinging breath that scorched my lungs.

I don’t know what to respond. It seems like my brain is not functioning well.

“I need to eat before I past out from hunger.” I replied dumbly.

His eyes softened. He placed his head on my shoulder and inhaled sharply.

“It feels like I’m bound to lose my sanity around you. That’s how I know baby.”
