Love In Twilight By Tiny Mountains Chapter 53
Chapter 53
Chapter 53 You’re Not Jealous? Once Clarissa reached home, she said to Grandpa Lawrence, “I’m
skipping dinner.”
“Why? Are you on a diet?” Grandpa Lawrence was concerned.
“It’s not that. I’ve already eaten at the office.”
“Eat less, don’t eat nothing!”Grandpa Lawrence insisted.
Clarissa returned to her room after chatting with Grandpa Lawrence for a while. Around eight, she
started having stomach pains. She curled herself up on the bed, sweating all over,
Upon entering the room, Damien took note of her strange condition and frowned. “Do you have a
fever?”
“I don’t think so…” Clarissa was shivering when she answered. She noticed his expression and
grabbed his arm. “I’m not sure what I did again. I just can’t secin to understand you and your mood
swings!”
Damien looked at her. “It’s not the time to talk about this now.”
He glared daggers at her.
His expression terrified Clarrisa.
“We’re going to the hospital.” Damien picked Clarissa up without waiting for her response and headed
downstairs.
They went to a nearby private hospital.
By the time they reached the hospital, Clarissa could see that Damien was covered in sweat as
well.
When she looked at his eyes, she felt a strange, long-lost familiarity
“You can put me down. It’s not that bad, so I can walk on my own.” Clarissa could feel her stomach
pain worsen, but on the other hand, she didn’t want to trouble Damien.
“What’s considered bad?” Damien said coldly.
That silenced Clarissa.
The doctor did a quick inspection and ended up with a diagnosis of gastritis.
The reason was because Clarissa had eaten too much spicy food. The cold meal she had in the
afternoon triggered gastritis.
After the check-up, she was arranged in a single room.
Damien was there with her.
However, Clarissa felt bad for troubling him.
“What did you eat?” Damien started interrogating her.
Clarissa then told him everything that happened.
She defended herself against the rumors circulating in the office today and added, “I wasn’t jealous of
Madelynn, and I didn’t pretend to be sick. The microwave was broken, so I couldn’t heat up the food.”
Towards the end, she lowered her voice to whisper, as if she had done something wrong.
“So it’s my fault for forcing the meal on you?” Damien asked with a deep frown. “No, I didn’t mean that.
You’re right regardless of what you say or do anyway, so why would I blame you?” Clarissa answered,
her eyes widened. “You’re not jealous?” “I… I don’t have the right to.” Clarissa said, her eyes rooted to
the ground. After that, Damien called the finance department and had the microwave replaced. He then
called Howard to inform him that Clarissa wouldn’t be coming to work for a few days. He didn’t explain
why, and lie didn’t have any reason to.
“How long am I staying here?” Clarissa asked. “According to the doctor, three days.” “Three? Then it’ll
be the weekend by the time I’m discharged,” Clarissa mumbled to herself.
Damien was silent.
The next day, the entire company discovered that Clarissa was on leave and that the microwave was
replaced.
The microwave had been broken for quite some time, but it was replaced instantly after Clarissa got
sick.
“Didn’t I tell you? No one was sick after eating Madelynn’s food other than Clarissa! That woman did
this on purpose to get back to Madelynn.”
“Well, she had to do something to make sure President Lawrence doesn’t get seduced by Madelynn.
She succeeded by acting sick.”
The entire company began gossiping about Clarissa. Eventually, Lily heard about the gossip. Angry,
she shouted, “Stop it! Clarissa’s not like that!” That stopped the colleagues from openly gossiping.
However, they continued to do so behind Lily’s back.© NôvelDrama.Org - All rights reserved.
