influencers, Clarissa wanted to buy a book regarding financial and cost management along with some
other workbooks.
If she could pass the final examination next year, she could finally be certified as an accountant.
The moment Clarissa and Lily entered the store, they saw that there was a long line inside. It seemed
like an event was being held. They closed in the crowd and noticed that Joseph Moore was holding a
fan meeting “Mr. Moore?” Clarissa was surprised. Clad in a grey cardigan, his fashion sense
complemented the current season, which was the beginning of autumn. “Clarissa? Fancy seeing you
here!” While signing books, Joseph shifted luis gaze to his watch and said, “Why don’t you guys go
shopping for now? I still have lifteen minutes before wrapping it up. I’ll meet you later.” Clarissa lieaded
to her section and chose the books she wanted. Lily bought a novel and muttered, “The books here are
so expensive.”
Aster Joseph’s event ended, he approached the ladies with two books in his hands. “Here, for the two
of you.”
Clarissa reached for one of them and saw the title, “An Accountant’s Journey”.
“You wrote this?” Clarissa looked at Joseph with awe and admiration.
Yes.”
Clarissa flipped through the last page of the book and saw the memo he had specifically written for her:
‘May your dreams come true in life.’ “Thank you so much, Mr. Moore.”
To avoid an awkward conversation, none of them brought up the incident that happened at the hotel the
last time they met.
“I have to return to my office for a while. Do you two want to tag along?” he asked as he looked at his
wristwatch.
Though Joseph was a busy man, he still hoped to catch up with them.
It had always been Clarissa’s life goal to work at an accounting firm. Excited, she agreed almost
immediately. She didn’t have anything to do, anyway.
So, the two ladies followed Joseph into his car.
During their journey to the firm, Joseph said he would give Clarissa his notes regarding financial and
cost management, of which he had highlighted all the important points and even inserted some
explanations. He even reassured Clarissa that she was a talented student ind that she would definitely
pass the final exam if she put in the cffori.
“You can work at my firm once you pass the exam,” Joseph remarked casually
All of a sudden, Clarissa thought of Nicole, who liad started work even though she had yet lo reccive
her certification
“Can I work at your firm without being certified?” Clarissa asked.
Lily nudged Clarissa’s arm and shot her a penetrating glare. Wliat she was trying to convey was quite
obvious, ‘Even though you’re fighting with Damien right now, you shouldn’t treat your job at New East
Corporation as a joke.’
Lily assumed that Clarissa was doing this out of spite for Damien.
“Of course, you can. You can start off as an assistant. Once you’re certified, it’s easier to be on board.”
Clarissa was deeply moved. Ever since she was fifteen, being an accountant was her dream. After
working al a major corporation, she thought it was better to stay somewhere where nobody knew her.
She found her current life at New East tiring. With the staff gossiping and stirring trouble for hier
everywhere she went. Perhaps the reason she was always thrust to the limelight was because she had
an odd relationship with Damien.
Despite the shortcomings, the key point was she had lost all interest to stay in New East Corporation
due to lier argument with Damien,
When they arrived at Joseph’s accounting firin, Clarissa stood near the building with a stunned
expression.
The label ‘Great West Accounting Firm’ hung high above the clouds at the top of the building
Previously at the hotel, Frank Moore, Joseph’s father, told her that Joseph was the owner of this firm.
Joseph’s accounting firm was the biggest accounting firm located in Genovia. Almost all the talented
accountants were located at this firm
Clarissa was overwhelmed by the scene belore her and asked eagerly, “What position are you holding
in the firm?”.
“I’m the founder and partner of Great West Accounting Firm.”
Clarissa respected Joseph’s position in the company
While Joseph was taking them around the firm, Clarissa realized that every accountant was assigned
an office,
Through the glass door, she noticed that everyone was working diligently in their uniform. Looking at
the professional working, cnvironment, a question rose to her inind. “Are you still living?” Clarissa
asked with sparkling oyes, “Of course, we are! One of my female partners is hiring an assistant Until
now, she still couldn’t find a suitable candidate. Do you want to give it a try?”
Clarissa nodded immediately She had yearned for a working environment such as this since a while
back
After a simple tour, Clarissa and Lily told Joseph that they could go home by bus. “Clarissa, it’s such a
rare opportunity to work for New East Corporation! I think you should reconsider your resignation,” Lily
advised. Clarissa shook her head stubbornly. “There’s no saving my relationship with Damien anymore.
Plus, everyone in the company is so gossipy.” Lily couldn’t help but agree.
When Lily asked Clarissa the reason she got into an argument with Damien, Clarissa told her
everything that took place during Grandpa Lawrence’s birthday. She even told Lily that the reason she
took the pregnancy test was to prove it to Madelynn. However, there was one thing that Clarissa had
deliberately hid from her, and that was her contract marriage with Damien.
What infuriated Clarissa the most was that Damien listened to everything that Madelynn had to say.
Upon the revelation, Lily nodded, “I think the reason Mr. Lawrence listens to her isn’t because he likes
her, but because what she said was exactly what he wanted to hear! He wants you to keep the baby,
but you’ve already aborted it before his consent. That’s why he’s so angry.” Clarissa stared at Lily for
three seconds before reacting. Repulsed, she
