Chapter 44
Elara
‘Hmm,’
He continues the sweet pattern. He goes inside me gently with a few thrusts and then hits my sweet spot.
Zuriel’s eyes are on me the entire time. He pumps inside me faster and deeper.
‘Yes, yes, yes,’ I chant.
We both collapse on the bed when we cum at the same time. We are breathing heavily.
Zuriel’s gaze settled on me. Normally, I can’t read his emotions, but his eyes show affection for me. He caresses my cheek gently. His skin is warm against mine. It brings me comfort. Like the previous night, his breathing turns heavy, and he falls asleep. I lie there, watching him sleep. I’ve loved this man all my life, yet he wasn’t even my mate. I wish he was mine.
My mind goes back to Connor. Where the fuck is he now? And why has he not been sleeping with other women? Is he planning something? Was he the one watching us earlier? Even though Zuriel assured me we weren’t being watched, I did feel eyes on us. The feeling was lingering.
I roll off the bed and go to the bathroom. When I come back, something catches my attention. There is a message on his phone. It is from a strange number.
With trembling hands, I get the phone and open it.Published by Nôv'elD/rama.Org.
[ They found you. Are you going to run again, Coward? Your Lovely Sister]
I narrow my gaze on the message and glance back at my husband. He looks peaceful in his sleep.
‘Sister?’
Zuriel has a sister? How did I not know that? I put the phone back. It vibrates, this time it’s a phone call. I keep watching it before picking it up,
‘Hello,’
There is no sound at the end of the line, but I can hear breathing.
‘Are you Zuriel’s sister?’ I ask slowly. There is a long beep, and then the call ends. Should I have not answered it?
I go back to bed. I force myself to sleep, but it doesn’t come. Zuriel has a sister. He never mentioned her, not even his mother said anything.
‘I think Zuriel is hiding a lot of things,’ Ara says. I agree with her. I would talk to him about it. However, I need to be careful how I go about it, or else I might push him away.
The following morning, I opened my eyes. Zuriel wasn’t in bed with me. I sat up and stretched my limbs.
‘He couldn’t just have disappeared! He has no money, no pack. Search harder!’ I hear shouting from the closet. I get out of bed and go to the closet where my husband is talking on the phone.
As soon as he notices me enter, Zuriel ends the call.
‘Good morning,’
‘Why are you shouting so early in the morning?’ I frown.
‘My men still can’t find that bastard mate of yours,’ he snaps. I silently stand on a stool and help him with his tie. I can tell my actions surprise him, but he doesn’t voice it out.
‘Ask him about his supposed sister,’ Ara says. I will ask him, but not now.
When I’m done helping him with his tie, he grabs my waist and gently places me on my feet. He observes me up and down,
‘Thanks,’
‘I’m going to my university class today,’ I inform him.
‘Don’t get in fights with men,’ that’s all he says. I blush deeply, thinking back to the time I beat Parker.
‘So, I can fight with girls?’
He scoffs, ‘You know what I mean,’ he says. He pulls one of the drawers open and gets a black card.
‘You can use this for whatever,’ he says. I look at the card in his hand.
‘I have my own money,’ I say.
‘I know. However, you’re my wife now, and my responsibility. I don’t want you using your father’s money,’
‘Oh,’
he puts the card in my hand and leaves the closet. I follow suit, bracing myself for the question.
‘Zuriel!’ I call. He looks back at me. I fidget on my feet,
‘I want to go out on a date,’ I exhale after the words leave my mouth,
‘Date? With whom?’ he seems genuinely concerned. I almost chuckle.
‘With my ex-boyfriend, and we might go to a hotel after dinner,’ I jest. His eyes instantly turn dark, red slits glowing as he stares at me sternly. He wraps his hand around my throat.
‘Don’t ever dare say that, even as a joke,’ he growls.
‘Maybe I like aggravating you. It’s sexy when you’re jealous,’
‘I’m not jealous. I don’t love you,’ his words pierce my heart. I retreat from him and turn my eyes on him.
‘I’ll take you on a date tomorrow night, okay? I have a meeting. I’m leaving now,’ he says and leaves the bedroom. I sigh and sit on the fluffy carpet.
I don’t love you. Those words ring in my head. How does he say it so easily? While it gets hard to repress my feelings for him. I want him to love me the way I love him. The door to the bedroom opens, and I instantly get to my feet, wiping all traces of tears in my eyes. Leban walks into the room with a coffee tray.
‘Good morning, Leban. You shouldn’t have. I could have gone downstairs,’ I smile.
‘Good morning, My beautiful lady. Caffe latte from Mr. Crawford, just how you like it,’ she beams.
I smile and drink it. I love that he does this for me.
