Cynthia had just finished cleaning up after eating when she saw a message on her WhatsApp.
[Mrs. Neal, Mr. Neal hasn’t eaten yet, and the food will take a while to arrive. Can you please take him out for a meal?]
Cynthia replied, [No, I can’t.]
Yoel responded, [I know you’re kind–hearted, and you’ll definitely agree.]
Cynthia responded, [Even if I’m kind–hearted, you can’t morally pressure me to take a dog to a restaurant for a meal.]
Yoel was speechless.
After silently cursing at his luck, Yoelsent a message to Joshua, [Your lunch will be delivered at 3 pm.]
Joshua was confused by the message.
Before he could respond, Cynthia’s voice came through.
She held her laptop and said naturally, “Yoel wants me to take you out for a meal.
Are you
interested?”
“I don’t eat food that’s too heavy.” Joshua was picky about his food, but he could not help wondering what Yoel was up to.
He stood up, adjusted his suit, and walked over to Cynthia, saying simply, “Let’s go.”
“That way, turn a corner. There’s something you would like to eat inside,” Cynthia directed him as if she was never angry.
Joshua was taken aback.
Those words caused ripples in his heart. He looked at Cynthia’s beautiful and delicate face, feeling an unprecedented sense of guilt.
His actions with Jayleen were ultimately unfair to her.
In that instant, Joshua decided to talk to her calmly after they finished eating, apologizing on behalf of Jayleen in the process.
“Thank you,” Joshua said in a low, complex voice, turning around and heading toward the direction Cynthia had pointed.
In just a few seconds, Joshua arrived at the room Cynthia had mentioned. Without much thought, he put his hand on the doorknob and opened the door.
When his eyes fell upon the scene inside, anger surged within him!
Cynthia!
Joshua was livid as he slammed the door shut and stormed back toward the living room, determined to give Cynthia a piece of
his mind.
That woman was asking for it. She actually asked him to eat in the bathroom!
However, Cynthia was nowhere to be seen when he returned to the living room. Instead, she had already retreated to her room on the second floor, locking the door and putting on noise–canceling headphones to focus on her own work.
Cynthia was not even afraid of Joshua knocking down the door. After all, he would never be able to break it down with his weak legs.
Two hours later, at Neal Group’s president’s office, Yoel stood there with a look of confusion, waiting for Joshua to make an announcement. He had been driving to deliver lunch to Joshua when he received a call telling him to cancel the delivery and organize a departmental meeting instead.
When had they ever had a meeting on a Wednesday?
Then again, he dared not to ask.
“Is the meeting organized?”
“It’s all set. Everyone’s waiting for you.”
Joshua let Yoel take the documents and go to the meeting room without saying a word.
The atmosphere in the meeting room that day was tense, and as the first department was called out and scolded, the others. felt like a guillotine was hanging over their heads. It was not until the meeting ended that they all breathed a sigh of relief, having been reprimanded harshly.
They all realized one thing–Joshua was in a horrible mood!!!
“Those who didn’t meet the standards will be cleaning the bathrooms for a month,” Joshua said coldly, his eyes sharp as daggers.
Yoel was baffled.
Everyone who did not meet the standards was too stunned to speak.
Clean the bathrooms?!
