Chapter 1977
Chapter 1977
In the evening.
The driver picked up Mia from the university. Instead of going back to the villa, they went to E.M Entertainment.
They had an appointment to have dinner outside in the evening. Desmond was busy with work and would be a little late, so Mia was waiting for him at the company.
When Mia got out of the car, she saw a white RV parked by the road.
There were a lot of entertainers working under the E.M. Entertainment. It was easy to see stars on T.V. here, so it was nothing special to see a recreational vehicle.
Mia glanced around.
The RV's window was half-open, revealing the side face of a person sitting inside.
Mia knew the person, but was a little surprised to see her here.
The person sitting in the recreational vehicle was Sonya. Desmond had fired her. Since she had nothing to do with E.M long ago, it was bizarre for her to appear here.
Sonya, seemingly to have noticed her, immediately closed the car window.
Mia ignored her.
It was time to get off work, so employees started walking out of the building one after another.
When Mia was waiting for the elevator, she heard people gossiping around.
"I seem to have seen Sonya at our company's entrance!"
"Is it really her? I saw her too. I thought I was mistaken!"
"At first, I thought that after E.M cast out sonya, she would immediately withdraw from the recreational industry. I never thought that she would build up a workshop!"
Mia listened casually and was not very interested.
The elevator arrived, and she walked in.
Desmond and his secretary were in the office. Mia entered after knocking gently on the half-closed door.
Both of them looked very serious when talking about business. Mia did not interrupt them. She gestured to the sofa next to her. and sat there, waiting for him obediently.
Desmond listened to the secretary's report and looked at the couch from time to time.
The secretary stood in front of the desk and seriously continued with respect. "The news we received before is true. Now Phoenix Entertainment has begun to release the news to the media, saying that they were ready to buy the rights of 'Magic Universe' and put it on screen!"
"The author is a heavyweight, and the works can make business profits. As we all know, the author became super popular after the 'Magic Universe' was released. The works serialized online were welcomed by the public, and the physical books were sold very well. The second series starting not long before is even more popular and has won many more fans..."
"Over the years, our company has been on the upper hand in the competition with Phoenix Entertainment. Once they win the author over, we may lose our advantages. Thus, we must get the right of the Magical Universe. But to be honest, I'm not sure we can succeed!"
Usually, Mia would not interfere with his work.
When she heard the secretary mention Magical Universe, her attention was drawn to them.
Desmond frowned slightly. "What do you mean?"
The secretary said with a worried face, "Twilight is the maverick author of 'Magical Universe.' She set a rule: her works can only be published in comic form. No exception! Many people were frustrated..."
They continued discussing...
Mia sat up straight.
She took out her phone from her pocket and sent a message.
By the time she put down her phone, Desmond was almost done with his business.
When the secretary saw Desmond gazing at him, he thought that he must have something else to say, so he stood there and waited.
To his great surprise, Desmond said in a disgusted tone, "What are you doing here? You can leave after reporting work. Can't you see that my wife is waiting over there?"
The secretary, still a single man, was at a loss for words.
What's so great about having a wife?!
...
At noon, the sun was shining brightly.
After the bell rang, the vigorous and young college students with books walked out of the teaching building one after another.
Among them, Mia and Aubree were walking down the stairs.
Aubree suddenly touched her arm and said while looking at someone, "Hey, a handsome guy there is watching you!"
Hearing that, Mia looked toward Dan.
He was dressed in a straight suit and stood there with a composed posture.
She suddenly smiled and said, "Sorry, Aubree. I can't go to the canteen with you. My brother is here!"
Mia ran to Dan in surprise. "Why didn't you call me in advance?"
Dan smiled. "I didn't want to disturb your class, so I came to see you when I finished my work. Last time, I promised to visit your school." Mia said, "Let's go then. I'll show you around!
His smile deepened. "Okay!"
They visited half of the campus, and then she took him to a hot pot restaurant nearby.
The waiter served everyone a palm-sized traditional purple copper pot.
As the flames licked the bottom of the pot, the bone soup with fresh lamb chops boiled.
Mia took a picture of it and sent it to Desmond.NôvelDrama.Org content rights.
When Dan got back after going to the bathroom, he happened to see
the last message on her phon sege
screen: Desmond was asking her she'd like to eat at noon.
Sitting back in the chair, Dan paused and asked casually, "Did he call you Mi?"
When she saw the photo was sent successfully, she put down the phone and nodded. "Yes."
Dan took a sip of water and said nothing.
Mi was a very intimate and special call.
He grew up with her, so he knew that no one could call her like that except for her grandpa.
Mia picked up some vegetables in the pot and asked curiously, "Are you back to deal with some business?"
She was so pleasantly surprised that she forgot to ask him about this the last time they met.
Dan locked his eyes on her across the table and said faintly, "Twilight has decided to sell the publishing right of her comics. When such a big deal happened, can't I come back in person to take a look?"
She was speechless, feeling a little embarrassed by his question.
When she first heard Desmond talking about the "Magical Universe" in the car, she had asked someone about it.
He stopped teasing her and said with a slight smile, "In addition to what I've just said, there is indeed something else that I have to do this time."
Mia asked, "Is it a business affair or a private one?"
He said, "A private one."
She asked softly, "What is it?"
He did not answer but just looked at her with a smile in silence.
Mia thought he didn't want to talk about a private matter, so she didn't ask more.
After dinner, Dan sent her back to school.
Arriving at the teaching building, Mia said goodbye to him and walked into the building along the stairs.
Before entering the building, she turned back and saw him still standing there and looking at her. She raised his hand and waved goodbye. Seeing this, Dan smiled gently and lovingly. But in the depths of his eyes hid some special emotions that she could not see.
When she returned to the classroom, Aubree couldn't help gossiping.
Aubree held her arms and said with amorous eyes, "Wow, Mia, your brother is so handsome. Does be have a girlfriend or a girl he likes? If not, can you introduce him to me?"
Mia was stunned all of a sudden.
Dan was six years older than her and grew up with her. But it seemed that he had never had a girlfriend, nor did he say he liked someone.
