Chapter 57
Nesta’s POV
I lay in my bed, staring at the ceiling, my mind a tumultuous sea of anger and sorrow. Silent tears. streamed down my face, the pillow beneath my head damp with the evidence of my pain.
I had not touched the food left for me earlier; the thought of eating made my stomach churn. My heart ached with the injustice of it all–the rejection, the forced return, the pregnancy that only complicated things further.
Every fibre of my being wanted to punish myself and the baby growing inside me for the torment I felt. But I would not give Nolan or any of the royal family the satisfaction of seeing me broken, or worse, having a miscarriage.
I was determined to protect this child, no matter how conflicted I felt. It is theirs and I won’t let them know that because then I will forever be shackled to them. I will escape as soon as possible.NôvelD(ram)a.ôrg owns this content.
That was the plan. I’ll act like I want to stay later on but I am going to run away. The heartache is too much for me to bear. Especially seeing how much Nolan hates me for something I don’t even know.
Why would anyone hate their mates? I will understand Rowan rejecting me because his mate is here but Nolan? I was his mate! His soulmate that was chosen for him by the Moon Goddess.
As the evening approached, the shadows in my room deepened, and my hunger became an unwelcome reminder of my condition.
Despite my resolve, my body’s needs could not be ignored forever. I wiped my eyes, feeling a fresh wave of resentment as I heard footsteps approaching my door. Not again.
The door opened slowly, and Rowan stepped inside, carrying a tray of food. His presence filled the room with an uncomfortable tension. I don’t know why I felt suddenly nostalgic.
Maybe because he was the first man that showed me kindness my whole life? Because even though we parted ways, what we had was real and I don’t care what he says.
How he is able to walk now is beyond me because I sure as hell knew he was living with that wheelchair for many years. And suddenly he could walk again. That wasn’t part of the game.
He was so happy to finally be able to walk. I saw it in his eyes when Nora came.
He closed the door behind him and approached the bed, setting the tray down on the bedside table. His eyes were filled with a mixture of concern and determination. Like a true king.
“Nesta,” he said softly, his voice trying to cut through the fog of my misery. “You need to eat.”

“How am I needed?” I asked, my tone sharp but tinged with genuine confusion.
Rowan took a deep breath, clearly struggling to find the right words. “There have been rogue attacks,” he said slowly, “More than usual. My mother… She thinks bringing you back might help us. She believes you have a gift.”
1 frowned, my confusion deepening. What a nutcase. Didn’t I tell him the hell I went through in Red Moon Pack! If I had a gift I wouldn’t have gone through that hell.
“A gift? What are you talking about?” I raised a mocking row at him.
He looked even more uncomfortable, his gaze shifting away from mine. “You’re a Healer, Nesta. A descendant of the Faes. Only they have healers, and you might be the only one alive.”
The words hung in the air, heavy with implication. I stared at him, my mind reeling. “A Healer? A Far?” I echoed, my voice barely a whisper. “I don’t understand. How is that possible?”
Rowan sighed, running a hand through his hair. “I know it sounds unbelievable. But my mother has done extensive research. She’s convinced that you have the power to heal, to mend what’s broken. It’s why the rogue attacks have intensified–they can sense your power, and they fear it.”
I shook my head, my thoughts spinning. “This doesn’t make any sense. I’ve never healed anyone. I didn’t even know this was possible.”
He leaned forward, his eyes earnest but it also looked like he is hiding something. That he is trying to stop himself from telling me something. I want to know what that is.
“We didn’t know either. But think about it, Nesta. Have you ever felt… different? Like you had a connection to something greater?”
I thought back to my childhood, the moments when I felt an inexplicable connection to nature, to the world around me. The times when my touch seemed to soothe, when my presence brought comfort. Could it be true?
Damn it.
“But why now?” I asked, my voice trembling. “Why bring me back now, after everything?”
Rowan’s expression softened. “Because we’re desperate, Nesta. The rogue attacks are getting worse. We need you. The kingdom needs you. And… I need you.”
His words struck a chord deep within me, stirring a mix of emotions I couldn’t fully comprehend. I wanted to reject everything he was saying, to cling to my anger and pain.
But a part of me, the part that longed for a sense of purpose, couldn’t ignore the possibility. And this could also be my escape plan.
“I don’t know if I can do this,” I admitted, my voice barely above a whisper. “I don’t know tër
Rowan reached out, placing a gentle hand on mine “You’re stronger than you realise, Nesta. And you’re alone. We’ll figure this out together”
Ilked at him, seeing the sincerity in his eyes. Despite everything, despite the betrayal and the pain, there was a part of me that wanted to believe him. The part that still cared about him..
And another part of me that wanted to embrace this newfound identity and see if I could truly make a difference.
Taking a deep breath, I nodded slowly, “Okay,” I said softly. “I’ll try. But I need you to understand- I’m doing this for my child. For my baby. And I won’t let anything or anyone harm them.”
Kowan squeezed my hand gently. “I understand. And I promise, we’ll protect you both.”
As I finished my meal, the weight of my new reality settled over me. I had been brought back to the park for a reason, and though I still felt the sting of betrayal, I couldn’t deny the possibility of a greater purpose.
