Revenge After rebirth (Mayra and Anderson)

Chapter 26

Gordon overheard their conversation. He ignored Emily and chased after Mayra.

He kept following her as she lined up at the cafeteria. When she started eating, he sat nearby and waited for her to be done. After the meal, he continued following her.

To avoid Gordon, Mayra purposefully discussed the math exam questions with the student walking in front of her. He didn't have a chance to talk with her, so he had no choice but to watch her leave.

Entering the classroom, she noticed Emily secretly munching on some snacks and reading a romance novel while hiding behind a physics textbook.

Mayra sat down quietly and opened her book to preview the content of the next lesson.

Emily approached her and said, "Mayra, why are you so hardworking? Compared to you, I feel like a waste. If Gordon can't tutor me, how about you help me? I can pay you for tutoring.

"If it's too troublesome, you can bring me along when you and Gordon go to the library next time. We're long-term deskmates, after all. Please help me."

She had been Emily's deskmate for almost half a year. She wondered how Emily had kept her affections hidden for so long as she had no idea Emily had always liked Gordon.

Emily was from a working-class family. Her father worked as a train conductor. It was a position few people could obtain, despite many others desiring it.

On the other hand, her mother worked as a teacher at a prestigious school. So, she didn't need to work part-time at the barbeque stall where Gordon worked. Even a fool could figure out what she was after.

Apart from her feelings for Gordon, she wasn't a bad person. Mayra would usually help her when she couldn't answer the questions during class.

Mayra remained calm and responded, "Ask him yourself."

"Do you dislike me for bothering you two? Is that why you don't want me to get in touch with Gordon? Mayra, we're friends. I just want to improve my grades. I swear I don't have any other ideas!"

Emily made an unpleasant gesture. Mayra glanced at her expressionlessly.

If it weren't for what happened in her previous life, she would have never known that Emily had a crush on Gordon. It turned out that she was the third party that intervened between Gordon and Emily. Belongs to (N)ôvel/Drama.Org.

Mayra averted her gaze. She took out a pen from her pencil case and said, "Don't look for me in this matter anymore. I've got nothing to do with Gordon. He helped me with tutoring. I also paid him. If you want to, you can ask him yourself. I don't have the right to decide for him."

"Well, okay. It seems I misunderstood you. Sorry, Mayra!" Emily apologized to her.

Mayra noticed Emily lower her head and snicker out of the corner of her eye.

She couldn't help but recall that in her previous life Emily was Gordon's ex-wife who died in the surgery. She felt so suffocated and couldn't breathe properly.

Mayra was a general student who didn't need to attend evening classes. As she had nothing to do at home, she chose to stay. It happened that she had difficulties solving some questions.

The school was quiet at night. Emily never attended evening class, so she returned. At this hour, she was most likely with Gordon.

Mayra soon put her thoughts aside and took out a set of test papers she had bought to revise with. She checked it after answering, and unexpectedly she scored 92.

After correcting the test paper, there were still 15 minutes left before the class ended. She spent the rest of the time reading an essay-related textbook.

Mayra felt sleepy when the class bell rang. It was already 9:30 p.m. and no more buses were running. She could only check the roadside for public vehicles and ride back.

Unfortunately, there weren't any. So, she had no choice but to walk back. It would take at least half an hour.

After walking for a while, she heard someone pedaling a bicycle behind her. She was so sleepy that she walked with her head down, not realizing the other party had stopped the bicycle beside her.

"Get on my bicycle. I'll send you back." It was Gordon! But wasn't he working part-time today?

Mayra refused. "No thanks. We're not even going the same way."
