Chapter 31
Chapter 31
Chapter 31 It’s Her for Sure Rosalie finally found her voice after a long while. Her heart was racing, and she was both nervous and jealous. If Claudia was proven to be Seraphina, she would be trodden underfoot by Claudia. “Ten to one.” Seeing Elva’s sullen face, Rosalie knew what she meant. Elya didn’t want Seraphina back. She didn’t want Claudia to be Seraphina either. “What do you want me to do?” Elva curled her index finger, and Rosalie’s head leaned to her. *** Outside the Friedan’s manor parked a black Maybach. The driver was a lad. When he saw Claudia going out, he removed his night vision goggles. “Mr. Lamont, Mrs. Lamont is out. Should we go and greet her?” Luckily, they were in a black car that was parked at an unnoticeable corner. As Claudia was riding the scooter, she didn’t look over at all. “No need!” Outside the Friedan’s manor was a busy street, which was close to the place where Claudia lived recently. Edmond’s assistant Rodney sighed when he saw Edmond’s deep eyes. He had clearly figured out the relationship between Waldron and Claudia, but Edmond told him to stop. If it was a misunderstanding, it was nothing. If it wasn’t… Rodney glanced at Edmond in the rear mirror. If someone like Edmond was cuc kolded, Rodney wouldn’t believe that there was true love. “Mr. Lamont, you may misunderstand the relationship between Mrs. Lamont and Mr. Friedan…” Rodney couldn’t help but persuade Edmond again.
“Maybe!” Edmond clenched his fists, his eyes icy. “Then, should we continue?” Rodney asked.
Thinking of how he had promised Rosalie, Edmond pursed his lips. “No! “Find out who took Claudia away and keep an eye on the Clayton family.” Thinking of how Claudia was taken away in broad daylight, Edmond couldn’t suppress his rising anger. If he didn’t find the wire-pullers, they would bring trouble to her someday. Before trouble found her, why didn’t he solve her problems in advance? Thinking of what Edmond asked him to do, Rodney couldn’t understand. Edmond cared about Claudia and wanted to take up the cudgel for her. But he didn’t have the courage to urge her to stay. Rodney couldn’t understand what Edmond thought, but he had a premonition that Edmond would be regretful. “Will Mrs. Lamont’s after-divorce compensations be transferred to her account?” “Yes.” Edmond looked out of the window indifferently. “Transfer the money to her account as I told you.” Though Claudia didn’t intend to demand anything, he still gave her some compensation. It covered properties and monthly living expenses. Rodney couldn’t understand his intention. They were about to divorce. Why was Edmond so nice to his ex-wife? If Rosalie knew it, she would stir up trouble. *** Claudia didn’t find out that she had forgotten something until she returned home. It was a box about her origin. She didn’t want to get it back tomorrow, so she returned the same way she came. Coincidentally, she bumped into Rosalie. Rosalie was stupefied when she saw Claudia as if she was a ghost. Since Rosalie knew that Claudia might be Seraphina, she really
wanted Claudia to disappear on the spot. Rosalie and Claudia’s old scores were endless. Eleanor was dead. The hatred would never cease. She had thought Claudia was alone, but to her astonishment, Claudia might be the lost daughter of the Friedan family. When Elva reminded her of the possibility, Rosalie immediately asked the detective who was investigating Claudia’s origin. Waldron took Claudia’s hair to do a DNA test. “Didn’t you go back? Why do you return now?” Rosalie’s voice sounded unnatural. She was worried that Claudia was too close to the Friedan family so that Claudia’s identity would be revealed. Claudia felt bumping, into Rosalie was unlucky. She didn’t want to talk to Rosalie and continued heading towards the gate. Waldron told her that he had given the box to a maid who was waiting for her at the gate. Claudia didn’t want unrelated people to waste her time. Seeing Claudia didn’t pay attention to her, Rosalie was furious. As Claudia headed towards the villa, Rosalie caught up with her quickly. At the gate of the villa, Elva was breathing fresh air, wearing a night skirt. Seeing the maid holding a box and looking around at the gate, she asked casually, “What’s this?” “Mr. Friedan told me to wait for Ms. Lloyd here and give the box to her.” Elva stared at the ordinary-looking box and didn’t know what was in it. She didn’t know what Waldron wanted to give Claudia. “Let me take a look!” She reached down. All content is property © NôvelDrama.Org.
The maid took a step back subconsciously. Impatiently, Elva walked over and sna tched the box before the maid could react. “Ms. Friedan, Mr. Friedan told me to hand it to Ms. Lloyd. It’s Ms. Lloyd’s belongings. Mr. Friedan said no one is allowed to open it.” “I’m his sister!” Hearing the maid’s words, Elva grew more curious. By passing the maid, she opened the box. What appeared in front of her was a shabby cloth and a slip of paper. The cloth looked antique. She twirled it between her fingers and found that it was a handkerchief, nothing special. So, she fixed her eyes on the paper. The maid was anxious. “Ms. Friedan, please give the box to me. If Mr. Friedan knows it, he will fire me.” “Shush!” Elva peered at her impatiently. “One more word, I’ll fire you now. The maid couldn’t help but hold her tongue, her face flushing red. Elva chortled. Her intuition led her to think that the secret behind the handkerchief was written on the paper. She took up the paper. As the wind blew, the paper was sent flying. She took a closer look. But before she could see something, the paper was sna tched by a hand. “Ms. Friedan, are you so interested in prying into my privacy?” Claudia asked coldly. Elva’s face flushed hot. “I just want to know what Waldron gives you.” “Nothing. It belongs to me. “Please give it to me, Ms. Friedan.” Claudia stretched out her slender hand, her bright eyes gorgeously shining under the light. Elva was horribly jealous when she looked at Claudia’s fine features. Elva was ordinary. Even if she practiced dancing since she was a kid and perfected her features through surgeries, she was less beautiful than Claudia.
Thinking of Emily’s beauty, Elva was jealous. Emily and Thomas’ children were good-looking. As Elva wasn’t as good-looking as them, everyone knew that she was adopted by the Friedan family. Claudia grew up in a slum, but she was favored by genes. If Claudia came back to the Friedan family, Elva would be overshadowed forever. Under Claudia’s cold gaze, Elva smiled and handed the box to her. As Claudia touched the box, Elva pretended to drop it into the swimming pool to the side accidentally.
