Burdened
Amelia sat at her desk, engrossed in her work, anxiously awaiting the arrival of Alexander’s schedule from his former assistant, Sam. The morning had been unusually quiet, devoid of the usual banter and warmth they shared during their commute to the office.
Unable to ignore her curiosity, Amelia stole a glance at Alexander, who was seated in a chair with his head bowed down on his desk. Concern etched across her face as she observed his weary appearance. Alexander, known for his vibrant energy and enthusiasm, seemed uncharacteristically weak and dispirited.
Amelia continued to steal glances at him, her worry growing with each passing moment. As Alexander slowly lifted his head from the desk, Amelia caught a glimpse of his solemn expression and the heaviness in his chest as he let out a deep sigh, leaning back in his chair. It was evident that something was amiss.
Unable to contain her concern any longer, Amelia mustered the courage to approach Alexander. She walked over to his desk, her footsteps hesitant but filled with genuine care, hoping to offer some comfort amid his apparent distress.
“Alexander,” Amelia called out softly, her voice filled with empathy, “is everything alright? You seem a bit off this morning.”
Alexander’s tired eyes met hers, gratitude and exhaustion mingling within their depths. finding solace in her presence. “I didn’t sleep well last night,” he confessed wearily. “My mind was restless, burdened with a multitude of thoughts.”
Amelia’s heart ached for him as she took a seat opposite him, “I’m sorry to hear that,” she murmured, her voice filled with understanding. “Is there something specific that’s weighing on your mind?”
Alexander hesitated, contemplating whether to share the weight that bore down upon him. He looked into Amelia’s caring eyes and he couldn’t bring himself to tell her how he felt about her.
“It’s work-related matters” Alexander lied to her and Amelia just hummed at him.
“Don’t worry, you can handle it!” Amelia advised to the best of her knowledge.
Alexander gazed deeply at her with flashes of emotions in his eyes, what could he possibly do to this woman??!
“Are you sure??” Alexander asked in uncertainty, as the day passed and rolled by, his desire and love for Amelia kept growing and intensifying. the strong emotions were weighing him down that he couldn’t even concentrate on anything related to his office work.
Amelia sighed as she looked at him, oblivious to what he was thinking
“If you want something, you just have to go for it and put in the effort, and trust me, you’ll be able to pass over this” Amelia encouraged him, she didn’t know where the urge to console him came from but she just poured out everything she wanted to say to him. She wanted him to feel better.
Alexander found a new resolve to chase after Amelia and get her by all means.
He just needs to put in more effort to win her heart and as she said… he can achieve it if he works more.
Amelia wasn’t aware of his thoughts and that she was encouraging him to chase after her.
She cleared her throat got up from her chair and said to him”I just got an email from Mr Sam, your former assistant, concerning your schedule for today, you have nothing much this morning just some signing of paperwork and checking the balance sheets.”Amelia continued telling him what he had to do in the morning.
Alexander listened attentively as he started working on that.
“Excuse me!” Amelia said lastly and walked towards the door.
Alexander quickly looked in her direction and raised a brow at her back figure “Where are you going to??” He asked, since Amelia came to his company, she barely left the office until it was either during lunch hours or closing hours.
If she wanted to use the restroom, she used his Restroom that was in the office.
“I have something to discuss with George, I’ll be back soon..” Amelia said slowly as she held the doorknob.
Alexander didn’t want to sound as if he was possessive of her or wanting to control her, he was about to say an okay when the door slammed closed.
Amelia didn’t even wait for him to say that before she left, She wasn’t a woman to be controlled by anyone, not even by him.
At the thought of George, he had forgotten what he did yesterday, he’ll visit him later for that.
Meanwhile, Amelia made her way to George’s office and knocked on the door George’s voice came from the other side, with a “come in”
Amelia opened the door and went in.
George’s heart skipped a beat as he watched Amelia step into his office. His mind raced with a flurry of thoughts, trying to comprehend why she was there. He couldn’t shake off the feeling that her unexpected visit might have something to do with his actions from the previous day.
“Good morning Mr. George” Amelia greeted and George just swallowed hard before nodding at her
Amelia approached his desk with a calm demeanor, her eyes filled with a mix of curiosity and concern. George’s nerves got the better of him, causing him to fumble with the papers on his desk as he tried to compose himself. “Can I sit?” Amelia asked politely, her voice gentle yet laced with a hint of apprehension.
“Yeah, of course,” George stammered, gesturing towards the chair opposite his desk. He couldn’t help but notice the nervous twitch in his hands as he adjusted his tie, desperately attempting to maintain a semblance of composure.
As Amelia settled into the chair, George’s mind raced, desperately searching for an explanation for her unexpected presence. He couldn’t shake off the feeling that Alexander, their mutual superior, had sent her to deal with him after posting that in the group chat.
“Well about…”
“Wait-wait first” George didn’t want Amelia to continue her words first so he quickly stopped, Alexander must have sent her to tell him his punishment.
But he had to save himself first, so he quickly brought out his phone and started operating it.
Amelia raised a brow at him feeling confused as to why he stopped her in mid-air.
She just hoped he wasn’t backing out on their deal from yesterday, she still haven’t made her request yet.
Was he playing games with her??!!NôvelDrama.Org © content.
