Chapter 685
Chapter 685
Because of the sheer number of followers she had, Rosalita paid no attention to the injured Cayden and his companions.
Never in a million years did she expect Cayden would dare to kidnap her in public.
“Hugh, let go of Mdm. Rosalita, or none of you will survive!” Cassie warned, staring at Cayden as she raised her pistol, aiming it at his forehead.
However, her hands were trembling, while her eyes were filled with mixed emotions.
She knew better than anyone how ruthless and cruel Rosalita could be. Even though Cayden and his gang were skilled and powerful, they were all severely injured now, unable to escape from this terrifying and deadly island.
“Even if I can't survive, it's worth it to have so many accompany me to my death!” Cayden said with a tone of coldness.
“Haha! You ignorant brat! Even if you kill me, you won't be able to leave this place,” Rosalita arrogantly declared. Exclusive © content by N(ô)ve/l/Drama.Org.
“If that's the case, let's all perish together!” Cayden sneered. He clasped her neck with his strong, iron-clad hands and strangled her, causing her eyes to roll backward.
Rosalita was seething with embarrassment and anger. She was coughing desperately, her face flushed with an unnatural red hue.
Even so, she desperately yelled at Cassie, “Cassie, k-kill this b*stard... H-hurry up...”
Cayden hit Rosalita's face sharply with the butt of his gun.
Several of Rosalita's teeth had been knocked out, fresh blood trickling from the corner of her mouth. The pain had her grimacing and gritting her teeth.
This only fueled her anger and madness further. “Hurry up, Cassie! K-kill him...”
Cayden positioned Rosalita in front of himself, shielding his entire body.
The angle he chose was excellent, as if she was a man-made protective barrier.
Assuming someone fires a gun at Rosalita, she would be the first to be riddled with bullets.
Cassie raised her gun, but was hesitant to take the shot.
Although she despised Cayden's betrayal, she could not bear to harm him.
Since Rosalita was in the hands of Cayden, the mercenaries didn't dare to move ahead rashly. They could only wait for Cassie's orders.
With the barrel of his gun pressed against Rosalita's temple, Cayden commanded, “Mdm. Rosalita, order your people to step back immediately!”
He understood Rosalita's psyche well. Although this woman was extremely malicious, with countless souls on the island having met their end at her hands, she actually valued her own life more than anyone else. In fact, Rosalita simply couldn't bear the thought of dying.
Sure enough, Rosalita gritted her teeth, gesturing to her people. She then said with a lisp, “Step back, everyone. L-Let... them pass...”
The mercenaries surrounding them instinctively stepped back, paving a path for them.
Rosalita was then taken hostage by Cayden in the middle of a small airport.
There was a helicopter parked right there.
“Get on the helicopter.” Cayden shot Finn and the others a meaningful glance.
After that, Finn and the other two boarded the plane one after another.
Finn then headed toward the cockpit, while Wren and Raymond each held a submachine gun as they couched at the hatch, aiming their guns toward the mercenaries.
Raymond shouted at Cayden, “Boss, hurry up and get on the plane!”
The longer they stayed, the less likely it was that they would succeed in escaping. No one knew what the next moment might bring.
Moreover, they encountered a traitor at such an unexpected time, despite having a foolproof plan.
Cayden grabbed Rosalita's hand and retreated step by step toward the helicopter, before finally ascending the ladder.
Just as they were about to succeed in getting on the plane, Rosalita suddenly began to struggle violently. The gemstone blue ring on her hand suddenly spat out a thin silver thread. Like a venomous snake, the silver thread shot at Cayden's face.
Cayden was suddenly startled, nimbly avoiding the silver thread. The gun in his hand was directly aimed at Rosalita, and he fired a shot at her ear.
With a horrific scream, Rosalita's ear was sliced off. Blood gushed out profusely. The pain was so intense that she nearly passed out.
She furiously roared at her subordinates, “Kill this ungrateful wretch! Shoot and kill them for me...”
Cayden's gaze turned icy immediately. Swiftly, he darted onto the helicopter, shooting Rosalita in the head with a single bullet. Then, with a swift kick, he sent her lifeless body with her eyes still wide open, tumbling down the helicopter.
“Let's go!” He had just boarded the plane when he saw a hand grenade being suddenly thrown their way.
“Boss, you guys should leave first!” Seeing the situation, Raymond lunged forward, using his own body as a shield. In an instant, his body was blown to pieces.
“Raymond!” Cayden's mind went blank, but now was not the time for him to be mourning or feeling sad. He swiftly darted into the cabin and shut the door behind him immediately. “Let's go!”
The airplane shook as it ascended into the sky.
Countless bullets whizzed through the air as they were aimed toward the helicopter, but it was already too late.
Cassie watched as the plane gradually disappeared into the distance. The woman's beautiful eyes slowly turned cold and ruthless.
Haha! Planning to run away, Hugh? Do you really think you can escape from here?
Meanwhile, at the Lambert residence, Avery was traveling to Mocset that day.
On the morning of her departure, Claire got up early to prepare Avery's favorite dishes and even brewed her favorite soup.
For the past few days, Avery had been losing sleep over her investigation into Roderick. Unfortunately, the results were less than satisfactory for her. The man was simply too
mysterious, and his background appeared to be impeccably clean and perfect, seemingly unable to discover anything at all. This was somewhat frustrating for Avery.
When Avery woke up that morning, she happened to see her mother bustling about in the kitchen, while her father was standing nearby, carefully picking and washing the greens. The couple appeared to be very loving and affectionate.
Avery had always admired her parents' love. They weathered many years of trials and tribulations, yet their affection for each other remained as strong as ever.
William was strong and authoritative in the political field, but he was considerate and respectful in front of Claire, willing to play a supportive role in the family for her.
They had been married for over twenty years, yet Claire still looked incredibly youthful. In fact, whenever she walked alongside Avery, they would appear more like sisters.
Avery knew that the reason for her mother's happiness was her father's unwavering affection for her over the decades. He simply couldn't bear to let his wife suffer even the slightest hardship.
She admired such love and relationship, and yearned even more for her own relationship to be just like her parents' love for each other.
However, she had no idea where her lover was at the moment.
Meanwhile, William was tasting the freshly made soup in the kitchen. Slightly furrowing his brows, he said, “It tastes a bit bland. I'm not sure if this will suit our daughter's taste.”
Claire then took a sip before comforting her husband with a smile. “This is the first time you've made soup for our daughter. Regardless of how it tastes, it's the thought that counts. Ery is a
filial and understanding child. She'll appreciate it because you made it with your own hands. I believe she will like it.”
“William laughed sheepishly. “Yes. You've really worked hard these years. Teach me a few more dishes when you have the time. Once I retire, it'll be my turn to cook for you.”
Claire couldn't help but roll her eyes at her husband. “Forget it. If we let you cook for us, with your less-than-flattering culinary skills, you might accidentally poison us instead!”
Avery watched her parents' affectionate interaction, her heart filled with warmth and envy. Perhaps, this is what the best kind of love looks like.
Just as she was about to step forward to lend a hand, a fierce tremble surged from her heart instantly, causing her such intense pain that she could barely stand upright...
