The Cursed Wolf’s Love

Regret this decision

“How could the Crown Prince say that? Iris is a human, bought as a slave and now is a servant to you. Don’t you know how the rules work?” Xavier was furious with his son’s sudden behavior.

Adolphus snickered and continued. “Why do you expect me to go against my heart? You also married Mother because you found her attractive, you fell in love with her,” he argued with his father, the King.

“Iris isn’t a werewolf,” Xavier reminded him. “You feel attracted to any other woman too,” he added.

“I don’t think so, Father. I never even glanced at another woman. However, Iris has captured my attention since the moment my eyes met hers. It happened way before she was bought as a slave first and then served me as a servant,” Adolphus explained to them.

Lucia could never let her son marry Iris. “Why don’t we ask Iris if she feels the same for you or not?” she opined.

“I don’t want her to call here,” Adolphus clarified.

Lucia quirked her eyebrow. “Why shouldn’t she be called here? Both parties should be in love to proceed with the marriage. Let’s hear what Iris has to say,” she proclaimed and gestured for Veronica, her personal attendant to bring Iris.

Adolphus frowned because he had not even told his feelings to Iris. “Mother, I have yet to confess to Iris. You both can see her later in the evening,” he asserted, and asked Veronica not to leave.

“A Luna is supposed to be someone who will assist you, and be as strong as you are. It takes months for a human to be a better werewolf, even if he/she is bitten. I will stand against your decision to marry Iris,” Xavier announced his decision.Text © owned by NôvelDrama.Org.

“And I won’t marry the woman you both have selected for me,” Adolphus affirmed and rose to his feet. “I shall take my leave since the meeting is over.” He bowed to his parents and left the main hall.

The first thing he did was order Anthony to bring Iris to his chamber. Adolphus waited for Iris’ arrival as it was important to tell her how he felt for her.

His feet came to a halt when Iris finally entered the chamber. She kept her gaze low and bowed to him.

Adolphus walked up to her and asked her to lift her head. She did and their eyes met. “I have something to tell you, Iris,” he said.

Iris was curious to know what the Crown Prince had to say to her and patiently waited for him to speak.

“You are aware of the fact a werewolf finds a mate using the scent. However, I’m unable to do that. I never felt attracted to anyone all these years after I turned into a full-grown werewolf. No woman could make me feel the way you do, Iris. I love you and I want you to be a part of my life,” Adolphus confessed his feelings.

Iris was shocked to hear that confession. She couldn’t believe her ears for a few moments and finally blinked her eyes.

“I appreciate Master’s feelings for me, but I cannot reciprocate them,” Iris pronounced. It was difficult for her to say something like that, but it was necessary too. She hadn’t forgotten the Queen’s warning to her. She was a servant and couldn’t dream of marrying a person who was beyond her reach.

“Why?” Adolphus asked. “Don’t tell me you say that because you are a servant, a human. I decided to buy you. That’s why you became a servant here. We werewolves are the same as humans. The only difference is that we possess some special features. Rest we are the same in everything,” he began explaining to Iris, trying to convince her not to reject his feelings without even thinking about it once.

“Master, forgive me, but I truly cannot reciprocate your feelings,” Iris repeated her words again. She knew Adolphus would be hurt, but it would be temporary at least. He would surely find a better woman than her.

“I will give you time to think,” Adolphus said.

“My decision will remain the same, Master,” Iris affirmed, her fingers curling together in nervousness. She noticed how Adolphus’ jaw clenched.

“Why are you doing this to me? Is loving me that difficult for you? You also feel something for me, then why are you refusing to do it?” Adolphus questioned her, trying to remain as calm as possible. He didn’t want to take his anger out at her.

“I never got love from anyone around me. I don’t have any romantic feelings towards my Master. All I feel is safe and secure around him,” Iris explained to him.

Adolphus held her arms and drew her close. His grip was too tight, which made Iris flinch in pain. His breath hit her lips and her heart drummed against her chest.

“Don’t lie to me,” Adolphus said.

“I’m not lying,” Iris proclaimed.

“Fine. You’ll regret this decision of yours, Iris,” Adolphus remarked in a fury, and let go of her arms. He turned his back on her. “Since you think of yourself as a mere servant in my service, then fulfill all my needs with no feelings attached. Will you do it? If not, then you’ll see me with another woman,” Adolphus’s anger suddenly burst in her as he put forward two conditions in front of her.

“I can’t do what Master Adolphus wants,” Iris said.

“Alright,” Adolphus said and asked her to leave his sight.

Iris bowed and silently walked out of the room. Tears welled up in her eyes as she broke Adolphus’ heart. She was never loved by anyone and it was Adolphus who readily wanted to show her his love. But she had no other way but to reject his feelings.

Anthony glanced in her direction and said, “The King and the Queen will be happy to hear your decision. You cannot be with the Crown Prince. Now, you should resume your work.”

Iris nodded her head after wiping the tears from her eyes and left to do her remaining work.
