Passion 10
Outside the window, the wind howled. Yvette's pale, slender hand rested on her abdomen. Her gaze was vacant.
Claude had just told her that the doctor had discovered she was pregnant.
Yvette felt sullen; she had conceived the baby at a bad time.
Viola studied Yvette's gaze, which was hollow and devoid of any will to live. She made a tough decision right then and there. "Yvette."
It took a while for Yvette to come to her senses. She turned her head toward Viola and responded, "Yes, Viola?"
With reddened eyes, Viola gently brushed the stray hairs away from Yvette's temples with her hand, which was marked with signs of aging.
"Yvette, I don't have children and have always treated you as my own daughter. I wish, above all else, for you to have a healthy life. Being wealthy and affluent isn't really that important.
"How can I live on if my only daughter yearns for death?"
Yvette's eyes widened at the sight of Viola grabbing a fruit knife.
"I took care of you until you were ten years old, and then! couldn't be with you anymore. This is all my fault. I'll atone for my mistake to Mr. Snyder now!" Viola exclaimed and began to cut her wrist with the knife.
Yvette was shocked at the scene unfolding before her. She
mustered all her strength to try to stop Viola, but she couldn't even get up. She could only cry out hoarsely, "Viola
Don't..."
However, Viola didn't stop.
Tears streamed down Yvette's face when she saw the bright red slashes on Viola's wrist. "I won't do anything foolish anymore! Viola, please stop..."
Once Yvette said the words Viola had wanted to hear, the latter finally stopped. Her eyes were bloodshot.
"Yvette, you've already done your part as a daughter to Madam Yara. You no longer owe her or Xavier anything! From now on, you must live well for those who love you-for me, and for the baby in your womb!!
Yvette decided to heed Viola's words and live well for herself and her baby.
From that point on, Yara was no longer her mother, and Terrence was no longer her brother. Her only family was Viola and the baby she carried.
Viola hadn't wanted to arm-twist Yvette into firming her resolution this way, but she wanted Yvette to live.
No one could choose the parents they were born to. Yet, since Yara was Yvette's mother and had brought the latter into the world, Yvette had to repay Yara with her life.
What kind of twisted mother was Yara, really?
During her hospital stay, Yvette learned from Claude that
Yara had fled to a foreign country.
She wasn't sad about that. Just like with Xavier, she had long repaid what she owed Yara. From then on, they were square. The more pressing matter at the moment was her pregnancy. She didn't want Xavier to know about the baby. After all, the baby had been conceived accidentally.
She knew how much Xavier disliked her. If he found out, he wouldn't want to keep the baby!
After three days in the hospital, Yvette was finally
discharged. She asked Viola to head back first, intending to settle matters with Xavier before joining her in the
countryside.
On the day Yvette left the hospital, Archibald Shaw, Tristan's grandfather, took Tristan to the hospital. He wanted Tristan to learn how to run the hospital
That was when Tristan happened to catch a glimpse of Yvette and Claude together.
"Yvette? I thought she had gone missing!" Tristan muttered under his breath.
Three days ago, on the 15th of May, Yvette and Xavier had been supposed to finalize their divorce. But Yvette had disappeared that day and had been nowhere to be found. "Why is she in the hospital?" Tristar asked out loud.
Sensing Tristan's concern, the hospital director, Jose Mendez, immediately asked someone to check Yvette's records.Material © of NôvelDrama.Org.
Half an hour later, Tristan received all of Yvette's hospital records. He was stunned as he read the contents of the documents.
He reeled in shock when he read that Yvette had taken sleeping pills in an attempt to take her life. The surprise didn't stop there-he learned that she was pregnant!
He found it hard to believe that she was pregnant when she
get divorced. "Are you sure and Xavier were just about these are Yvette Snyder's medical reports?" Tristan asked. The person who brought the records nodded affirmatively. Tristan's mind flashed to the unfamiliar man who had been with Yvette when she had left the hospital.
His expression became solemn, and he exuded an air of coldness. He had truly underestimated Yvette! He wasn't sure whether to tell Xavier about her pregnancy since he didn't know who the father was! In the end, he decided to call Daphne and inform her of the situation. Daphne had saved his life. Besides, she was all alone in this world-he was the only one who could help her.
