Chapter 671
The baby's smile dissipated the darkness that enshrouded Bernard.Content protected by Nôv/el(D)rama.Org.
Later, the baby grew up to become a little ball of sunshine. Her smile shone through the gloom and into his world. She clung to him like glue, looked after him, and even said she liked him.
Bernard said, "At that time, I wondered if I was born into this world just to meet you."
Hera stared at him, unsure of how to respond. She never thought that she'd get his attention at such a young age back then.
But even if she could turn back time, she'd still do what she did. Bernard was simply too dashing that she couldn't contain herself.
"Will you marry me?" Bernard asked, holding her hands as he got down on one knee in front of her and gazed deeply into her eyes.
Hera felt as if her heart was overflowing with joy. Still, she said, "The marriageable age in our country is 20, though."
"We can get engaged first," said Bernard. "If you're willing to, we can head to Aurania to register our marriage. There, people can get married at 18.'
"This is so sudden," said Hera.
Although she had the freedom to decide on the matter of marriage, she should still ask her parents for their opinions beforehand.
"Too many men have laid their eyes on you. I'm worried that you'll get abducted by one of them," said Bernard.
It was especially so now that Thiago had come into the picture. He couldn't stop claiming Hera to be his fiancée.
That was why Bernard and Hera had to register their marriage as soon as possible. Only then would Bernard stop worrying.
Hera was at a loss for words. Bernard just couldn't stop worrying about her. Helpless, she nodded.
"Okay," she agreed. "But I have to tell my family about this first."
"Okay. 'Bernard smiled and put the ring on her finger.
After getting up, he leaned in for a kiss. It was a long and passionate kiss.
Later, Bernard removed the lid from the other food containers. He cut the beef on the plate in front of him and then placed it in front of Hera.
As Hera gripped her fork to dig into the food, the blue diamond on her ring reflected the light from outside, making her heart swell with bliss.
On their way back home, Hera scrolled on her phone and saw a notification for a friend request. It read, "Hi, I'm Felix Kennedy."
Hera accepted the friend request. She had just saved his contact when she received a message from him. The message read, "Good evening, Ms. Youngworth. Is Mr. Killian with you right now?"
Hera knitted her eyebrows at the question. Did this person add her just because they were looking for Bernard?
Then came another message, "There's something I need to tell you, but I need to make sure that he isn't around. Are you free tomorrow afternoon? Can we meet each other?"
Hera's fingers froze momentarily before she raised her eyes and looked to her right where Bernard was busy texting on his phone. She was curious now. What did Felix want to tell her?
Hera deleted the 'He's here beside me' and replied, "Okay."
The next day, at 2:00 pm, Hera showed up at the café Felix told her about and entered one of the private booths. When Felix saw Hera, he got up to greet her, 'Ms. Youngworth, are you alright?"
Hera found it weird why he'd ask her that. "I'm good. Thanks. Is something the matter?"
Felix looked hesitant. Seeing this, Hera simply told him, "Just get straight to the point."
He fell quiet for a while as if contemplating his words before telling her, 'Mr. Killian and Johnson don't want me to tell you about it, but I think you have the right to know."
"What is it?" Hera asked, her curiosity piqued.
