Chapter 67
Freya froze. Elijah’s expression changed in an instant.
“Quinn, you’ve got the wrong person. Your mom is over there.”
An elderly woman quickly picked up the child and apologized to Freya, “Sorry, the child didn’t see clearly, mistook you for someone else. There’s something on your pants…”
Freya looked down and saw sugar from the candied haw on her pants. It was sticky. She smiled and said, “It’s okay.”
Tonight, many people came with their children to see the lanterns. It was understandable.
Freya, who had noticed Elijah’s change earlier, asked, “You don’t like children?”
Elijah said indifferently, “I don’t like that you have a child.”
Freya thought of the child in her womb, lowered her eyes, and her hair fell, covering her face. “What if I have a child?”
“How could I let you give birth to a bastard to disgust me?” Elijah turned around and continued, “Let’s go.”
There wasn’t much to see since it was crowded and noisy everywhere. He didn’t like such a crowded and noisy environment. Freya wasn’t surprised by that he wouldn’t allow her to have a child with another man. Indeed, choosing to leave was the best decision for her.
She touched her belly, thinking about the baby. “Mom will protect you.”
“Let’s go.” Elijah turned around and saw that she was still standing there without moving, so he urged her.
Freya quickly caught up. Thinking of Leo Stone, she still asked Elijah, “Hasn’t the car accident thing already passed? Why haven’t you let go of Zane Stone?”
Elijah found her inexplicable and he ignored her, walking away. He walked fast, and Freya had to jog to keep up. She couldn’t help but complain in her heart.
“Liora’s pregnancy was false, wasn’t it? Since she didn’t have a miscarriage, why not let Zane Stone go?”
Freya softened and pleaded for Zane Stone. She didn’t know if it was because of Leo Stone or simply because of Zane Stone himself.
Anyway, she spoke up.
Suddenly, Elijah stopped. He turned around and looked at her, silent. Just like that, with a somewhat indifferent gaze, he stared at her. Freya felt her scalp tingle under his gaze.
“Why are you looking at me like that?”
“I didn’t do anything to him.” Said he.
In the beginning, Elijah did indeed arrange for someone to teach Zane Stone a lesson. After that, Zane Stone escaped after hitting someone, got caught, and was punished. It was all justified. He had to bear the responsibility because Xander was still in the hospital.
“My dad came to see me today and said someone beat him inside. If it wasn’t your people, who else could it be?” Freya could only think of Elijah.
Elijah furrowed his brows. Without evidence, she just assumed it was him?
What did this woman think of him in her heart?
“Don’t suspect me without evidence.”
“If it isn’t you, who is it?” asked Freya.
Elijah didn’t know either. He took out his phone and made a call to his secretary. “Check who attacked Zane Stone inside.”
The person on the other end responded, and he hung up.
“Isn’t that done by you?”
Freya Stone felt a pang of embarrassment for her recklessness. She had misjudged him.
Elijah had grown weary of explaining.
Back home, Freya caught up with him and apologized.
“Um, sorry.”
“If you’re really apologizing, go pour me a glass of water.” Elijah said as he lounged on the sofa.
Freya poured the water and handed it to him.
The atmosphere was strangely quiet. Freya picked up the remote control and turned on the TV. She looked for something interesting but couldn’t find anything. Eventually, she stopped at a random Korean drama. Ignoring the plot, at least there were handsome men and beautiful women in it. As she continued watching, it reached an intimate scene between the main characters.
Kissing, undressing…
Freya instinctively averted her gaze. This seemed inappropriate to watch with Elijah. She bent down to grab the remote control, intending to change the channel. However, as she reached out, Elijah grabbed the remote control before her.
She looked up.
Elijah was looking at her. “Don’t you like it?”
She just randomly picked something and didn’t know there would be such scenes.
“You watch. I’m going to bed.” Freya stood up. She didn’t want to continue watching this awkward TV show in this awkward atmosphere.
Elijah grabbed her, and with a low, bewitching voice, he said, “Stay with me.”
Freya was shocked.
Elijah liked watching cheesy Korean dramas?
She turned around. “You…”
But before she could finish her sentence, Elijah pulled her into his arms with a strong tug. It was still an extremely ambiguous posture, sitting on his thigh. Freya quickly stood up. However, Elijah encircled her waist tightly, holding her in his arms.
Frowning, Freya struggled a bit but Elijah held her even tighter.
“Behave and don’t move.”
Being too close to him, Freya could clearly feel the sharpness of his breath and the heat of his body. Her heart involuntarily skipped a beat. For a moment, the rhythm was chaotic. She tried to calm herself.
“Freya.”
Elijah’s hand slid to her waist, rubbing against the fabric, “Forget about that man.”
Freya’s heart twitched.
Which man?
The man she had a relationship with, the man who gave her a child?
How much did she remember about that man? This content provided by N(o)velDrama].[Org.
“I’m impure…”
“I also had an affair in my marriage, so we’re even. Let’s live together like this.”
Freya was actually slightly moved for a moment.
Soon, she sobered up.
She couldn’t.
If she didn’t have a child, maybe she would accept Elijah’s proposal.
But…
This child was something Elijah couldn’t accept.
But she wouldn’t give it up.
“Why are you silent?”
Elijah got closer to her ear.
Freya clenched her fist, “I… um…”
Suddenly, Elijah bit her earlobe, causing Freya to wince. His lips kissed from her ear to the back of her neck, rolling on her fair skin.
“You will leave that man, right?” asked he.
Freya closed her eyes. For a moment, she was a bit mesmerized, almost saying, ‘Yes, I will leave him.’
But, in fact, that man didn’t exist in her life.
What existed was only the child.
She hesitated and Elijah seemed to sense something.
“If… I didn’t have that night, I’ll be willing to be your wife.”
Elijah seemed to detect a hint of something different in her words.
