Chapter 106
Kala POV
I couldn't sleep. I felt safe, as safe as I could in this pack...and I had no concerns that Alora would try and murder me in my sleep....yet I couldn't sleep.
I was looking up at the moon from the sitting room window, and had been looking at it all night. Snuggled up with a blanket and a low roaring fire lit, I stare at her ethereal beauty hoping she might show a sign of what she wants me to do, of what her plan is. What exactly does she expect me to do....
him yesterday
In truth, I was also waiting for Father to return. Samson had been able to get word to him afternoon and I know he can't be that far away. Surely he'll be back by early morning.
I haven't acted upon anything yet, not without Father knowing...I had to wait.
What was more surprising than hearing Alora's side of the story, was that Hector was half human. And the biggest bombshell. that he and Than were actually brothers.
I was right, from the moment I stepped into that coffee shop, Hector had a plan for me. His revenge, I believe, now runs deeper than the mate connection with him and Alora. It is complete revenge and he has been plotting for some time against his father, Than and Medea.
Yet my wolf refuses to believe that, she just refuses to accept that the private moments with him...the laughter shared, was an act. Perhaps some moments we shared were genuine but it still doesn't change the fact that he lied to me.Nôvel/Dr(a)ma.Org - Content owner.
I'm not sure what time I feel the cool morning air breeze through the front door, but Father's arrival wakes me from my cuddled up state on the sofa.
"Kaia? It's late my child, why aren't you in bed?"
"Father, I needed to tell you immediately..."
"The guards refused to tell me what the emergency was, you panicked me...I expected to come back to a battle field. What is it?"
Father and I have always shared a special bond and I've never lied to him....never before leaving him. What I need to say is difficult but I need to just say it, like pulling off that bandaid.
"We have guests Father, one in particular I need you to be prepared for..."
"Sounds intriguing..." He yawns with a slight chuckle.
"One Father, that is claiming to be my twin..."
Once I had informed Father of Alora being my identical, that was it...he also was unable to sleep. We both remained in the sitting room where Father paced the rest of the night by the fire, stopping every so often before shaking his head and continuing to pace. It took all my energy to talk him out of marching up the stairs and demanding to see her immediately, she
needed to rest.
She also didn't need a powerful Alpha bursting into her bedroom at night and scaring her to death. She was weak as it was. Father was kind to me but there was no denying his power and if he thought for one moment this was a trick, he would turf her off the pack with his own hands. She wouldn't cope with that, she'd already been through enough.
"Kala?" I can hear her voice call me from upstairs as she tapped quietly on my bedroom door. Standing up, I walk out of the sitting room into the hallway to greet her from the bottom of the stairs. Freya exits her own bedroom, and now stands by Alora's side. "Alora, I'm down here. Freya, if you want to start breakfast we will be in shorty..."
As Alora joins me at the bottom of the stairs, I do something I never expected in my wildest dreams...I take her hand.
"Father is here. I have told him..somethings..." I give her a pointed look to warn her not to overshare too much.
"...he would very much like to meet you. But we will need to go to the medical centre after breakfast." "Yes, of course. Lead the way..." I could feel her hand shaking slightly within my grasp.
She was nervous and had every right to be, but I fear she will be disappointd by what Father has to tell her of my birth and what the blood results will reveal.
I lead her into the sitting room where Father stands leaning against the mantle piece of the fire place. The fire was almost burnt out, we hadn't fed it since the early hours of the morning, yet it still provided a soft additional warmth to the start of the day. A day I fear will be just as momentous as yesterday.
"Father, this is Alora." I clear my throat forcing Father to finally look at our guest. Father was sweet to me, yet he was fiercely protective and possessive of me. It had only ever been just the two of us.
With his lack of sleep I was dreading his reaction, of poor Alora being kicked out of the pack and branded
a witch.
But what I wasn't expecting was the soft smile that forms upon his face, as his arms open wide to welcome Alora. "Alora, my child...welcome home!"
